In case you missed it,Best Knockoff Luxury Clothing just launched a genuinely delightful new podcast called Who What Wear with Hillary Kerr. Expect to hear excellent weekly conversations on all things fashion and beauty with very specials guests ranging from celebrity stylists and makeup artists to designers and tastemakers, plus chats with our own editors and so much more. During a part of the second episode that felt suspiciously targeted directly at me, the subject turned to transitioning out of wearing sweatpants 24/7 and back into the real world of, well, getting dressed.
Yes, it's spring, and it's a great time to get excited about fashion again, but let's also be practical about it, shall we? A year spent in matching loungewear sets got me convinced that cute and comfortable aren't mutually exclusive, so I'm on board with this week's pod suggestion that easing back into the world of actual clothes is far more enticing when we opt for more relaxed silhouettes. I'm already backing this easy-to-wear trend for spring by way of roomy house dresses, oversize blazers and knits, and the jeans I can actually imagine wearing. Even polished tops can be secretly comfortable when sizing up (my favorite trick) or leaning into breathable fabrics that feel good to wear. I'm starting with this edit of relaxed (and surprisingly affordable) spring staples below.
I love this top because it's slightly more polished than a basic T-shirt but just as comfortable thanks to its 100% organic cotton fabric. Plus, that tangerine shade is a big spring color trend.
A roomy house dress is perfect for just about any place you may find yourself this spring. I'll be styling this one with sneakers or leather sandals for months to come.
This oversize button-down will be an essential in your spring and summer wardrobe. I'm currently into styling it underneath a chunky sweater with the sleeves and collar peeking out, but it'll make an ideal swimsuit cover-up before I know it.
For those glorious days above 65°, opt for a camp shirt instead. Again, sizing up is the move here.
Comfortable and jeans are two words that don't always fit in the same sentence, but this particular pair is the exception.
If the cropped cardigan from 2020 felt a bit too, well, cropped, then grandpa cardigans should be on your radar. They're roomier, cozier, and longer. In case I needed to further make my case, this baby blue one is only $28.
A white oversize blazer is always my go-to piece for looking put-together in warmer months. Layer over a T-shirt or ribbed tank top with soft pants (but not sweats!) for a low-key but still really chic outfit.
This is another very chic option I just couldn't pass up. The optional belt adds a little more shape to the jacket if you're in the mood for that kind of thing or want to balance out a particularly relaxed bottom style.
A cotton jumpsuit is not only practical, but it also makes getting dressed in the morning impossibly simple. Just add a pair of equally comfortable fresh white kicks or chunky flatform sandals, and you're good to go.
