5 Easy Styling Tricks to Copy From Copenhagen Fashion Week Runways

Of all the sources of fashion inspiration at our fingertips, runway looks are often the most intimidating to re-create. The fantastical designs aren't always made for real life, but allow Copenhagen Fashion Week to change your opinion on that. While there were plenty of daring, experimental trends on the spring/summer 2024 runways, I also noticed a plethora of realistic styling tricks that are extremely easy to copy.
How easy, you might ask? You probably already own the pieces you need to emulate these tips, making them cost zero dollars. Scroll down to see five simple ways you can have a Copenhagen-worthy outfit inspired by Ganni, Gestuz, Baum und Pferdgarten, and other Danish brands.
1. Style Dresses Over Pants
This trend was so prevalent at the S/S 24 shows during Copenhagen Fashion Week that I struggled to choose only four photos. To copy this trend, you can style dresses over matching pants for a coordinated look, as seen at Gestuz (top right) and Mark Kenly Domino Tan (bottom left), or you can mix and match contrasting pieces like Ganni (top left) and Saks Potts (bottom right).

2. Finish Your Outfit With a Thick Headband
If you don't have a thick black fabric headband, now's the time to score one on Amazon for less than $10. These stretchy accessories are affordable and perfect for hiding bad hair days. As these photos prove, the styling options are endless. You can wear yours with a flirty miniskirt á la Baum und Pferdgarten (top left) or pair it with a swimsuit like Saks Potts (bottom right). If you're feeling adventurous, you can combine trends and wear your headband with the previously mentioned dresses-over-pants combo like Stine Goya (bottom left).

3. Wear High Socks
See? I told you these styling tricks were easy to copy. If you don't already own a pair of tall black socks, Calzedonia's Knee-Highs are just $5 and look strikingly similar to the versions seen at Rotate (top left) and Ganni (top right). Baum und Pferdgarten (bottom left) and Stine Goya (bottom right) showed slightly shorter versions that were just as cool.

4. Tie a Scarf in Your Hair
The Copenhagen runways were awash with various hair accessories. The Garment (top left) showed a cute crochet bonnet, while Helmstedt (top right), Skall Studio (bottom left), and Mark Kenly Domino Tan (bottom right) made bandanas look super fresh.

5. Give 'Em the Cold Shoulder
Go and brush your shoulders off. This season, Copenhagen designers nonchalantly styled cardigans, sweaters, and dresses slightly askew, resulting in a laidback look I love. The exposed-shoulder trend was featured in many runway shows, including 7 Days Active (top left), Baum und Pferdgarten (top right), Paolina Russo (bottom right), and A. Roege Hove (bottom left).
