Trust Us—These 7 Dresses Are Destined for It Status

Last year was certainly the year of the dress, but thanks to the trends waiting around the corner for us this spring, our dress obsession is only going to become even more heightened. Many of last year's key dress trends are continuing, such as leopard-print midis, prairie dresses and sheer tulle beauties, however, there are also some new additions to the mix.

In 2018, spots and florals proved the most popular prints, but this year, we'll see more dresses that mix two or more prints in one dress—think one arm in one print, and the other arm in another print. One of the best dresses we saw on the runways was a white floral crochet dress at Chloé, which is certain to spark a trend for Ibiza beach club ready cover-ups. Keep scrolling to see seven dress trends we predict will make headlines in 2019.

1. Prairie Dresses

Prairie dresses were popular last year thanks to brands like Ganni and Batsheva, however, they are going to become more dramatic this spring with exaggerated sleeves and skirts.

2. Sheer Dresses

At fashion week, many of the street style crowd wore billowing sheer dresses. Designers like Simone Rocha showed it's not a trend to be scared of, creating delicate floral tulle dresses.

3. Arty Prints

Rixo spring/summer 2019.

The above Rixo dress on the left with colourful paint splodges created a frenzy on Instagram, and we think it'll create an appetite for more artsy prints.

4. Prom Dress

This dress trend goes hand in hand with the ongoing '80s revival. Think big bows, bigger shoulders and bold colours.

This dress is bound to feature in all the most glamorous Instagram holiday envy shots this summer, making us all want to dress like we're at an Ibiza beach club.

6. Leopard Prints

You'd be forgiven for thinking that we'd reached peak leopard-print dresses, but everyone from Richard Quinn to Rochas embraced animal print for spring once again.

7. Print Clashing

Designers like Rixo are using two or more prints in one dress, but it's more elegant than the patchwork effect you might be imagining.
