Is it just me or are all the biggest new trends getting weirder and weirder than usual these days? From the electrifying neon colors we're seeing all over Instagram to the "extreme sports" aesthetic that's officially a thing, I wouldn't blame you for shying away from the eclectic fashion trends of the moment. Since you're reading this, though, I have a feeling you're interested in which of these out-there trends I fully plan on partaking in.

I won't lie: The following six trends certainly aren't for the faint of heart, but it's my opinion that there's nothing too out-there that can't be made to look more down to earth when styled alongside a good old pair of jeans. While admittedly I might just be dipping my toes into the following styles, my ever-growing denim collection will never bite the dust. If you're with me, go on to see and shop the eclectic fashion trends that will liven up your denim outfits in seconds.

HOT PINK

In case you haven't heard, the '80s are back, and it's the decade's maximalist energy that I'm currently channeling. First up is a color so intense that it's garnered the word "hate" by many. But fear not: The easiest way to test it out is to marry the loud color with a trusty pair of jeans.

FUTURISTIC SPORTSWEAR

The athleisure trend has taken a decidedly futuristic spin lately, and it looks a lot like Zenon: Girl of the 21st Century meets the Tour de France. Sounds pretty out-there, right? Well, this trend just might be the unexpected element your jean outfits have been craving.

HIGHLIGHTER GREEN

I don't think anyone spotted this "ugly" trend coming, making it all the more unexpected to see all over Instagram and the street style set. To offset its irreverent nature, look for neon green pieces in classic shapes and silhouettes, like a structured handbag or simple turtleneck.

HIKING BOOTS

This one may be far less out-there if you live in a climate where hiking boots are simply a practical footwear choice, but for others, the heavy-duty boots are an eclectic pick indeed. I, for one, am pumped to style the boots with high-waisted jeans and a chunky knit sweater once the temperatures begin to plummet.

ALL THINGS IRIDESCENT

I said it once, and I'll say it again: The '80s are a huge source of inspiration right now. If you spent any of your adolescent years during the decade, you might cringe at the thought of revisiting your iridescent and metallic pieces. Now, though, it's finally time to reconsider them for all hours of the day and night.

ULTRA-SLICK VINYL

I'll withhold the Matrix reference that you were anticipating for this one, but I will add that a vinyl jacket worn with jeans and ankle boots should 100% be your fall uniform. Just saying.

Now you have 18 more ways to freshen up your jeans outfits right now.
