When you're in the short-person club (like myself), the thought of going to dinner, on a first date, or on a night and wearing flats is horrifying. I know that sounds dramatic, but when you live in a city that can sometimes feel like a sea of 5'9"+ models, those of us who are 5'5" and under are taking every extra inch we could get. I'm telling you. I was a bona fide heel girl. If you ever saw me wearing flats, I was either running to a workout or running a quick errand. But with the fashion world's infatuation with all this quiet luxury came the flat-shoe obsession. Ballet flats, mesh flats, beaded flats, loafers, flat sandals… You name it. They were all on the feet of the über-stylish all summer 2023. Eventually, I folded and started to embrace flat shoes. Now, I'm one of those chic people running around the city in my poplin dress and ballet flats. I have to say I wish I came over to the short-shoe side sooner. This is not only way more comfortable but also way easier to style with all of my favorite basics.

I rounded up 29 of my favorite flat shoes on the market right now. Trust me—after looking at these, you'll be team flat shoes too.
