I woke up this morning sneezing, my sign that spring—and the pollen that comes with it—is officially here in New York. As my apartment has limited closet space, that also means it's high time to box up my coats and chunky knits and embrace bright colors and lightweight fabrics like linen and silk. In addition to the usual stylish basics, I'm looking to add fun seasonal pieces into my rotation that can help to punch up my day-to-day outfits.
I've already started my hunt, focusing on three essential retailers: Shopbop, Nordstrom, and J.Crew. Each has a lineup of cool yet affordable pieces that I feel like my current wardrobe is missing. In particular, I've been looking for slightly fancy dresses for all of my upcoming weddings and accessories that will make my jeans-and-tee uniform feel a bit more purposeful and put-together. Two of my favorites included in this list are a wicker belt that I plan on wearing with linen pants and light dresses and a pair of Gucci sunglasses that add a luxe touch at a more affordable price point.
As I begin to fantasize about the impending park picnics and days spent out at the beach, I'm shoring up the wardrobe that will help me embrace my spring self, even if the last thing I grab on my way out the door is Claritin.
