I'm Trying These 5 Trends First to Update My Summer Wardrobe
The new season is just around the corner, and I am determined to make this my most stylish summer yet. I have never had so many things on my summer calendar to look forward to, and I’m planning on raising the bar on my looks and bringing out all the stops. Every year, I can’t wait for summer. It rivals fall as my favorite season, but it’s definitely my favorite season for fashion.
I’m all about sundresses, open-toed shoes, and fun, vibrant colors. This summer, there are five trends that I’ve been seeing everywhere on the streets of NYC, on my Instagram feed, and in the closets of my fellow fashion people: maxi skirts, saturated hues, pleated tailored shorts, Y2K accessories, and platform sandals.
Keep scrolling to see how to style these trends and where to shop them.
Maxi Skirts
The maxi hem length will be everywhere this summer, and I’m here for it. Style with a simple ribbed tank top, bodysuit, or crop top. You can pair this skirt with casual flat sandals or sneakers for the day and style it with heeled mules or strappy sandals for the evening.
Saturated Hues
One of my favorite things about summer fashion is the opportunity to wear bold, saturated colors. This season, I am loving shades of orange, pink, blue, and green. Plus, let’s be honest—we are all in a little bit of a better mood in a bright and fun outfit.
Pleated Tailored Shorts
These are such a chic staple for summer. From the streets of Paris to New York City, fashion people can’t get enough of pleated tailored shorts for summer. A bonus is that these shorts can be dressed up or down and can be styled with virtually any shoe style.
Y2K-Inspired Accessories
Y2K (the year 2000 for those who don’t know) was all about fun accessories. Think butterfly detailing on shoes, mini bags, and platform flip-flops. I’m excited to experiment with this trend for summer.
Platform Shoes
This trend may be my favorite of them all. I love a good high heel, and platform shoes have always been a personal favorite, so I hope this trend stays forever. Style them with your favorite miniskirt for a fun night out.
