10 Designer Shows We’re Looking Forward to at Fashion Week Australia
It’s the week we spend an entire year thinking about, and it’s almost here. Kicking off on Sunday May 15, the Australian fashion industry and spectators will be hooked on the hashtag #MBFWA (and #TheStreeties if you’re reading Who What Wear Australia). Sixty-nine leading and emerging designers will present 45 collection shows, and we’re going to bring you a tight edit of everything you need to know and see from each day. If you aren’t already, be sure to follow us on Instagram and Snapchat (WhoWhatWearAU) for real-time updates and takeovers. The best bit? You’re going to see fashion week through the lens of a Who What Wear editor—curated, with a point of difference.
Keep scrolling to discover the shows we can’t wait to see, and then let us know who you’re most excited for in the comments below.
10. Romance Was Born
Romance Was Born turns 10 this year, so this is bound to be a stellar, standout show on Wednesday.
9. KITX
It’s the first time KITX will present at Fashion Week Australia, so we’re excited to see the brand and vision come to life on Wednesday.
8. Ginger Smart
Our editors had a sneak peek of the collection, and we guarantee this one is going to be a real highlight come Monday morning.
7. Georgia Alice
We’re hailing Georgia Alice as the next Kym Ellery. Exaggerated, simple shapes that really make a statement. We can’t wait to see her collection walk down the runway on Monday and watch what happens next.
6. Christopher Esber
Christopher Esber’s current collection with bold resin buttons is one of our favourites this season—if this collection is anything to go by, we’re sure to be wowed this on Tuesday.
5. Karla Spetic
Karla Spetic is one of this editor's personal favourites—the magic of Karla Spetic never disappoints. Watch this space on Tuesday.
4. Dion Lee
Dion Lee is a true master. His collections take on a new life every season, with intricate detailing you never thought possible. We’re sure his return to Fashion Week Australia on Monday will be one of the most Instagrammed of the week.
3. Maticevski
Toni Maticevski knows how to stun a crowd to silence. The designer is opening Fashion Week Australia this Sunday—stay tuned for our first runway update.
2. Albus Lumen
We’ve been fans from the start. Since Albus Lumen launched in October 2015, we’ve watched closely. The first Fashion Week Australia presentation will no doubt deliver all the cool-girl pieces of our dreams, come Monday.
1. Misha Collection
Well… Bella Hadid is walking the show on Monday. Need we say more?
