In addition to cultivating long and impressive careers, Katie Holmes and Alexa Chung share another commonality: Excellent taste in clothing and accessories. Both have a penchant for classic design and wardrobe staples, which we saw come into focus this week.
Over just a couple of days, I spotted Holmes and Chung reach for a lesser-worn but supremely chic shoe style that fashion people often opt for to elevate their daily looks. Instead of square-toe or rounded designs, both tapped into the almond-toe shoe trend to finesse their off-duty outfits.
Holmes chose a black almond-toe ballet flat which she paired with white, high-waisted trousers and a relaxed black tee. Using the sleek shoe pairing to smarten up the casual look, Holmes struck a balance between smart and laid-back whilst staying true to her signature effortless style.
Taking a more playful approach, Chung opted for a glistening pair of silver shoes to wear with her black, flared jeans. Featuring a similar almond-toe design, the shoes livened up her denim ensemble in a very fashion-forward way.
Working to elongate the legs, an almond toe shape curves around the foot, finishing in a blunted point as opposed to a fully rounded toe, and we think it looks inherently chic.
