I know, summer is in full swing and to wish it away seems...ungrateful. But as someone who is most comfortable in a rotation of jeans and jumpers—and is constantly being chastised for purchasing an unneccessary number of outerwear pieces—I can't help but look forward to the change of season and the arrival of the autumn crisp. Turns out, I'm not alone—one of my high street favourites, the great M&S, is already laying the groundwork but dropping styles that tap into the season's key trends.

This autumn looks set to give a mix of classic and updated styles that will appear to both minimalists and more maximalist tastes. With a focus on textures and tones—think rich autumnal browns, pops of red and animal-print accessories—this season's trends encourage us to lean into staple styles that will come back into circulation for many years to come, while still introducing some fun contrasts to daily dressing.

Style Notes: Forget the black and white combo—this autumn is all about brown tones. Mix and match chocolate colours with tan shades, or pair with white denim for an effortlessly chic look.

M&S has also hopped on the boho train with lace blouses, suede staples and fringed accessories that are perfect for adding just a touch of bohemian spirit to your autumn wardrobe.

Style Notes: Another carry-over from summer styles, animal print will continue to pop up in autumn wardrobes. Lean into the autumnal colour palette by looking to brown and black prints— I predict zebra will be the one to go for in the coming months.
