5 Spring Outfit Trends Everyone in My Brooklyn Neighborhood Is About to Wear

The weather in New York right now is doing all the spring things—it gets a little warm, then it's sunny but freezing, then it rains for two days straight. Where I live in Williamsburg, right on the East River, the occasional icy gust off the water brings *literal* tears to my eyes. For all of our excited talk about spring weather and wardrobes, the reality in the city is a little less charming.
If you had an eye on the shows in Paris a few weeks back, you'll know that other parts of the northern hemisphere are enjoying a far more civilized start to the season. Gentle sun, unseasonably warm breezes, far fewer jolts of freezing temperatures—it's the kind of spring weather that apparently won't grace NYC until sometime in April. The moment those reliable 60-degree days hit, the fashion will be more than ready. Here are the extremely wearable (and very New York) spring outfit trends, from butter-yellow button-downs to suede jackets and white skirts, that I'm predicting will be all over my Brooklyn neighborhood the moment spring really hits.
Liquid Pants + Cropped Trench
Cropped trenches are ready to take over from heavier coats, especially oversize ones that feel menswear inspired. They work with everything, naturally, but feel especially good with the liquid-satin pants you might have already invested in last year and will be wearing even more in 2025.
Suede Jacket + White A-Line Skirt
Speaking of last year's investment pieces, there's lots of life left in those A-line white shirts we saw paired with longline black vests and sandals on repeat. I'm not sure anything looks fresher with a tailored suede jacket aka the perfect light layer. The pick from Mango below is so good.
Double Denim + Practical Accessories
The collarless-blazer trend has meandered its way over to the denim-jacket section, and it's doing good things to the double-denim outfits that are on the rise. (Standard spring trend or a show of support for our Canadian neighbors, perhaps?) Layering in a white shirt is entirely optional but recommended, then bring in your most commute-friendly accessories and apologize to no one.
Your Favorite Outfit + Something in Butter Yellow
Butter-yellow accents are the quickest way to freshen up an otherwise standard outfit this spring. The great thing about color trends is that you can work them into your favorite, most highly wearable looks to breathe a little new life into them. Trading in your white button-down for a soft-yellow one takes zero effort but feels so good.
Legs Out + Snakeskin Flats
I'm still not over this look from last year, which was 100% ahead of its time. The timeless, peak-spring white minidress worn under a jacket that looks like it was borrowed from a high school sweetheart who was a bad influence is so good. The snake-effect flats are where it's really at, and they're here to inform you that it's 2025 and animal-print accessories are here to play.
