- Why Trust Us
It's official: winter is here, and everything is brown. And when I say everything, I mean it! From camel-coloured coats to chocolate loafers, everywhere I turn, this cosy hue feels seconds behind, and has made a warm splash as the colour of the season (the shade Mocha Mousse is actually Pantone’s Colour of the Year 2025). Looking to incorporate this rich seasonal shade into my winter capsule wardrobe, I started somewhere unexpected: trainers. Because whilst I expect to feel an urge to buy brown boots and loafers? Trainers, I'd normally opt for black or white.
Brown shoes have been building in momentum for some time. From Miu Miu’s boat shoes (which landed the number-five spot in the Lyst Index Q2 report) to the unexpected resurgence of the Timberland loafer, warm-toned footwear is definitely having a moment. With the trainer world moving slightly quicker than the rest of the footwear market, you may have spotted brown trainers being championed on the sidelines by Adidas, Onitsuka Tiger and Puma over the past few seasons.
From taupe Speedcats to the viral SL72s loved by Bella Hadid, every iteration of brown trainers has been drawing focus for some time. However, the shift truly came when luxury designers took note. From luxe mocha leather styles paired with oversized tailoring to deep-chocolate technical runners grounding fluid knitwear, it was the creation of Loewe's Ballet Runner 2.0 and the Dries van Noten Leather-Trimmed Suede Sneakers for this year's spring/summer season that solidified brown trainers as the new white.
I’ll be honest: trainers weren’t always on my radar for winter. To me, boots felt like the obvious choice (let's be honest, a shearling-lined pair are far cosier). But over the years, I’ve come to appreciate how the right pair of sneakers can anchor an outfit in a way that’s both cool and comfortable. My brain made the switch when I bought my first pair of brown trainers: the ever-popular Adidas Samba. Since then, trainers have quietly become a staple of my cold-weather wardrobe (especially when I’m clocking up miles on my commute to work), and based on what I’m seeing on my social media feeds, I’m not alone.
After studying the most stylish people online and probing some of my fellowBest Knockoff Luxury Clothing UK editors, I discovered that there are 19 pairs of brown trainers that are highly regarded as the best of the best. From comfort to colourway, these styles have earned a spot in the cold-weather footwear rotations of many stylish dressers.
So if you’re in the market, I promise it’ll be hard to find a pair better than these.

The 19 Best Brown Trainers of 2025
1. COS Minimal Leather Trainer
Style Notes: If you were to say "brown trainers" in theBest Knockoff Luxury Clothing UK office, we'd all instantly think of COS's Minimal Leather Trainers. This year, shopping editor Marina Avraam has been looking for a trainer which “quietly elevates every outfit”, and her search was over when she found these. "Sitting at the sweet spot between minimalism and athleisure, these trainers deliver that rare blend of polish and ease, working well with everything from leggings to trousers," she says.
Sizes: 36 42
Colour/s: Dark Brown, Crimson, Cognac, Jade, Chalk, Cappuccino, Khaki Green and Navy
2. Puma Speedcat OG
Style Notes: As someone who often confesses their love for all things chocolate brown, mocha mousse or coffee-coloured, acting fashion editor Sophie Watson is enamoured with the chic elevation of the Puma Speedcat. A celeb favourite, her love for this "soft, slim-profile shoe" lies in the shade. "This soft brown update is the perfect transitional sneaker style for the darker, chillier months. Pairing with all of my winter wardrobe, it mixes well with denim, khaki tones, black and, yes, other brown pieces."
Sizes:: 3 12
Colour/s: Brown, Red, Taupe, Black, Burgundy, Black Mauve
3. Dries van Noten Leather Sneakers
Style Notes: I couldn’t talk about the best brown trainers without Dries van Noten's Leather Sneakers, which have swept through the fashion set this year. From dopamine-infused ruby red to this luxurious toffee brown, every colourway of this minimal, scallop-edge trainer garnered a plethora of fans.
Sizes: 3 9
Colour/s: Tan
4. Samba OG Suede-Trimmed Textured-Leather Sneakers
Style Notes: I know there's been much discourse surrounding whether the Adidas Samba is "dated" or not. But I’m here to tell you not to discard these trainers just yet! Loved for their football-style appeal, the black and white iterations have transitioned from trend to staple over the years. With brown proving to be one of the most popular colours of the year, it makes sense to swap your old favourite hues for this more "now" feeling shade.
Sizes: 3 9
Colour/s: Chocolate
5. Adidas SL72 OG Shoes
Why we love them: When Adidas re-released the SL72, a running shoe first spotted at the 1972 Summer Olympics, the fashion set was sent into a frenzy. Adding a laid-back feel and relaxed edge to classic trainer outfits, this shoe found firm fans in fashion people and celebrities alike. From Bella Hadid to Emily Ratajkowski, these trainers have been worn with everything from silk trousers to loungewear, tailored trousers, jeans, skirts and more. Truly, it's a shoe that does it all.
Sizes: 3-8
Colour/s: Maroon / Almost Yellow / Preloved Brown
6. On Cloudnova
Why we love them: AtBest Knockoff Luxury Clothing UK, "ugly" shoe trends tend to garner a lot of interest. From Jennifer Lawrence's garden clogs to the "dad" trainers popular today, few of them truly stick, but the ones that do mesh style and functionality with ease. However, since the On Cloud dropped in 2012, the fashion set has been obsessed. Lightweight, weather-resistant and with a cushioned design for daily wear, these trainers have been everywhere for a while now. On's signature springboard technology makes it feel like you're walking on clouds—especially appealing when battling a treacherous daily commute.
Sizes: 3 8
Colour/s: Pebble, Black, White, Ice
7. TB.490 Rife Leather Sneakers
Why we love them: Anything that our managing editor, Hannah Almassi, recommends instantly piques my interest, especially when it comes to trainers, as she isn't one to usually wear them. Rarely would her exquisite sense of style and my laid-back approach to dressing ever coincide, but when it comes to the Aloha’s TB.490 Rife Sneakers, we agree. In a warm chocolate brown, this layered suede-and-leather trainer looks undeniably cool. The exposed threading keeps the silhouette feeling fresh, and when paired with your favourite maxi skirt or loose jeans, they add a soft polish.
Sizes: 3 8
Colour/s: Brown, Taupe, Burgundy, White Burgundy Leather, Grey, Cornflower Blue
8. New Balance x Miu Miu 530 SL Suede Sneakers
Why we love them: I'm a massive fan of a mixed-market collab. From Nike x Jacquemus to H&M x Glenn Martens, there's rarely a collection of this type that doesn't make it into my capsule wardrobe. The link-up that really sent fashion people into a frenzy was Miu Miu x New Balance. Balancing Miu Miu's playful zest with New Balance's signature 530 design, these trainers were a huge hit.
Sizes: 36 42
Colour/s: Cinnamon, Ecru
9. Veja SDU Rec J-Mesh
Why we love them: When it comes to everyday, non-sports-brand trainers, none are quite as popular as Veja. Made from a breathable mesh, the SDU Rec's chunky sole provides cushioned comfort whilst the insulating body will keep your toes toasty all winter. For the perfect fit, go up a size, as this shape tends to feel a little snug.
Sizes: 3 12
Colour/s: Natural Platine
10. Prada Suede Sneakers
Why we love them: When investing in designer shoes, I tend to lean towards neutral shades to ensure I get the most wear out of them. So when I spotted these Prada sneakers, they instantly jumped to the top of my cold-weather wish list. The supple suede adds a polished finish, the narrow silhouette is very 2025 and the plush gum sole adds comfort. This is a stylish and practical designer option that is perhaps a little less obvious than the sell-out Miu Miu style. Like any suede trainer, they need to be properly protected with a sealant or spray, and they probably won't be your go-tos on rainy days. However, winter sun? I couldn't imagine anything chicer.
Sizes: 36 42
Colour/s: Pumice Stone, Cocoa Brown
11. Chloé Kick Sneaker
Why we love them: Inspired by ballet and boxing, the Chloé Kick Sneaker feels like the best of both worlds. Sitting somewhere between a Sneakerina and the Adidas Tokyo, the crackled sheepskin material has a luxe-looking finish that adds something a little different to your usual plain brown suede. I also love the aptly placed debossed Chloé logo, which doesn't detract from the minimalist silhouette but adds to it, resulting in a shoe that is perfectly placed for casual dinners and drinks this winter.
Sizes: EU 35-42
Colour/s: Oak Brown
12. Gola x Anthropologie Elan Trainers
Why we love them: Over the past few years, Gola trainers have been the gift that keeps on giving, but it was the Gola x Anthropologie collaboration which truly put them on my radar. With a low-profile silhouette and vintage-inspired design, Gola trainers bring unfussiness to the sneaker conversation. But it's this pair's sporty blue side stripes framing the shoe that bolstered it up my list. Adding something different to a look without completely distracting from it, this shoe has a retro energy that still feels timeless, and they'll transition as you do through the years.
Sizes: UK 3 8
Colour/s: Dark Brown/Air/Pollen/Gum, Evergreen/Off White/Ceris
13. Adidas Originals Campus 00s
Why we love them: Adidas has been setting trends and producing gems for decades, and my latest love is the Campus 00s. With an inherent old-school feel, these trainers blend the old with the new. Their suede finish and classic three stripes on the side feel very Y2K, aligning perfectly with the fashion zeitgeist and mood for 2025.
Sizes: 3.9 9.5
Colour/s: Brown, Black
14. New Look Faux Suede Panelled Trainers
Why we love them: If you're looking to dive into the brown trainer trend without breaking the bank, New Look is set to be your best friend. Finished with a wearable design and cushioned gum sole, these shoes have an expensive-looking polish that will serve your wardrobe well.
Sizes: 3 8
Colour/s: Brown
15. Adidas x Wales Bonner Superstar Hi Perforated Suede Sneakers
Why we love them: Much like the Miu Miu x New Balance collab, every iteration of the Adidas x Wales Bonner partnership has been like gold dust for fashion people. With a high-top design—a new silhouette from this collab—these trainers take the brand's signature Superstar to new heights in this supple brown suede. This is definitely a style to watch in the coming months.
Sizes: 36 42
Colour/s: Brown
16. Salomon XT-6 Sneaker
Why we love them: It's not just retro flat soles making a strong comeback in the trainer sphere; chunky white sneakers are still very cool. But having moved on from the era of maximalist Balenciaga "dad" trainers, the most tuned-in fashion people are now gravitating towards the Salomon XT 6 GTX. Depending on your taste, you might be thinking, "Surely not?", but thanks in part to Rihanna's co-sign, these ultra-functional trainers have gained serious traction—pun intended. Growing in popularity, the fashion set has been pairing these trainers with everything this winter, from jeans to checked skirts
Sizes: 3.5-6.5
Colour/s: Beige, Black, Blue, White
17. Steve Madden Asiel Trainer
Why we love them: If theres one shoe company that consistently knock's it out of the park, it's Steve Madden. Known for their Y2K styles and expensive-looking fabrication, theres yet to be a silhouette of shoe Madden creates which doesn't fascinate me. In a plush brown suede, this narrow Now, this shoe is the ultimate street-forward trainer, with the retro style even getting celebrities stamp of approval. From Emily Ratajkowski to Jennifer Lawrence, everyones been witching out their trusty pairs for this suede brown iteration.
Sizes: 3-9
Colour/s: Chocolate Brown Suede, White Suede, Camel Suede
18. Adidas Tokyo
Why we love them: After the reign of Adidas Sambas, fashion had to find a new design to sink its teeth into. Thankfully for sneakerheads, Adidas had conveniently timed the release of their Tokyo—skeanerina slip-on style with a gum sole. With a sleek silhouette and modern feel, they capture everything we love about the Samba but with a fresh twist. With an innate martial art zest, you can channel your inner Gisele Bündchen (a known jiu jitsu fan and practitioner) when wearing them.
Sizes: 3-13.5
Colour/s: Aurora Coffee / Off White / Gold Metallic, Dusky Bronze / Clear Sky / Gum, Core Black / Cloud White / Gum, Grey Three / Cloud White / Gold Metallic
19. Onitsuka Tiger MEXICO 66 SD
Why we love them: They're the shoes spotted all over social media (and Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill). The yellow pair of Onitsuka Tigers emerged as the first real contender to the Adidas Sambas. Where the balmy pair will never date, this warm chocolate iteration is pipped to the fill the brown trainer gap in your wardrobe.
Sizes: 3-13
Colour/s: Brown
