Is Gigi Hadid on a Mission to Start This Controversial Trend?

Gigi Hadid has proven herself a sartorial risk-taker time and time again. She's also proven herself to be an influential trendsetter, with the help of her stylist Monica Rose. Recently, Hadid stepped out onto the less-than-pristine sidewalks of NYC wearing a white coat that was long enough to drag on the ground, a choice that she later defended to Matt Lauer on the Today show. And based on what she wore to exit Jimmy Kimmel Live! after her appearance last night, it appears the extra-long-coat look wasn't a one-time thing. Hadid threw on a leopard-print duster over her black slip dress that again dragged along the sidewalks of Hollywood.

Duster jackets and coats are an ongoing trend, but these are the first street style examples we've seen of them at such extreme lengths. Time will tell if others are brave enough to sacrifice the cleanliness of their hemlines for the sake of a trend, but in the meantime, we'll have to admit that Hadid looks effortlessly cool with her outerwear dragging behind her.
