Prediction: This Is Gucci's Next It Item
Gucci has some major changes under its belt. At the beginning of the year, Gucci announced that Sabata De Sarno would be the new creative director. He is scheduled to present his debut runway collection at Milan fashion week in September 2023. In the interim, the job of designing the brand’s F/W 23 collection was given to the Gucci studio, which provided a look back on the legacy of the brand and some of its most iconic designs: The sleek ’90s tailoring of Tom Ford, the vibrant looks of Alessandro Michele, and reimagined takes of heritage pieces such as horsebit bags.
One of the most noteworthy accessories of the collection: Gucci’s oversize double-G buckle belts, which were styled throughout the collection. The looks—incorporating pieces such as wide-leg jeans, sharp-shoulder power blazers, low-rise trousers, and crisp button-down—provide a look at directional ways to style the accessory that is destined to be Gucci’s next It item. Ahead, shop the Gucci Blondie belt that is set to take over.
On the F/W 23 Runway
Add the belt to wide-leg jeans, a crisp white button-down shirts, and a power blazer—no doubt, the uniform that the fashion set will be adopting in 2023.
The wide leather belt is the perfect counterpoint to a slouchy denim and button-down pairing. It works just as well with an upsized trench coat as it does with a blazer.
In most cases, relaxed low-rise trousers need a belt in a practical sense. For this neutral black and white look, it also adds a subtle statement.
If you wear a pantsuit, opt for a slouchy-yet-tailored silhouette. Then, add a white shirt buttoned to the top and a Gucci Blondie belt at your waist.
