This New York Designer Deserves a Medal for Inventing a Wine-Cooler Handbag
With New York Fashion Week underway, fashion folks have had their eagle eyes fixed on the runway, ready to spot the It pieces poised to hit our wardrobes next year. As always, among the good, the bad, and the ugly, there is the surreal, and for spring 2019, our serving of weirdness comes from fashion designer Brandon Maxwell.
On the heels of last season's transparent bag trend, Maxwell sent a model down the runway clutching a plexiglass bag that contained a bottle of bubbly. Naturally, the blogging crowd went wild for the accessory, which also featured a gold initial fastening, gold handle, and knotted and initialed silk scarf. It might not be the most practical piece around right now, but anything that combines fashion and wine is never a bad thing in our books. Our 2019 picnic plans suddenly look a whole lot chicer.
Scroll down to see the look and our roundup of all the best bags from S/S 19 NYFW.
Style Notes: Brandon Maxwell creates this crowd-pleaser by combining the plexiglass bag trend with, well, a wine cooler. It's a yes from us.
THE OTHER BAGS WE LOVE
Style Notes: Monse proved that rope bags are sticking around for next summer, but this time they come in a slouchier crossbody style.
Style Notes: Tibi channeled grayscale minimalism with this roomy tote. Take note of the way the model held it: The VB bag clutch is back.

Style Notes: Another sizable style (big purses are having a moment) from Self-Portrait. This floral bag looks part shopper, part bindle (look it up) and is both chic and practical.
Style Notes: Animal print + mini size + crossbody style = Wild West inspired perfection. Bravo, Ralph Lauren.
Style Notes: Claudia Li offered her own twist on the doctor's bag with this rectangular tote.
Style Notes: You thought bags were small last season? You ain't seen nothing yet. Brandon Maxwell shrunk his mini bags down to matchbox size for S/S 19.
Style Notes: Fanny-pack lovers, rejoice, because according to Escada, the trend is still cool for S/S 19. We love how this model wore her across the body.
