When it comes to building a wardrobe that looks polished, put-together and, let's be honest, really expensive, you’d probably be surprised at how often I turn to the high street. If you know what to look for (and where to look), it can be easy to trick people into thinking you’re a lot richer than you are—trust me. A few of my top rules? Stick to tonal neutrals, good-quality fabrics and fluid shapes. And all of these boxes are ticked by an impeccable new wool jacket I just found at H&M.

The high street offers so many pieces, and it's only the special few that are able to look well beyond their price tags. Hunting them down is something that I have expertise in, looking for elevated cuts, sleek fabrics or simply looking to the Premium Collection. Once in a while a piece comes along that truly deserves our attention, and these gems usually sell out very quickly.

The new-in Handmade Wool-Blend Coat (£150) deserves your attention. It's got a beautiful, fluid feel with a wrap design and chic tie-belt at the waist, giving a relaxed but luxurious vibe, with a curved collar and deep pockets. The shorter length even makes it perfect for wearing all the way through autumn and into winter, and it now comes in two colours: an elegant white and a very chic camel. Pair it with a tonal white or camel knit and tailored trousers for a smarter "old money" vibe, or simply add jeans and leather loafers with your most expensive (or expensive-looking) handbag in tow, for an everyday look that any good "Birkin Mom" would approve of. Yep, that's a thing now

Of course, I just added the coat to my basket, and you can keep scrolling to join me in shopping this incredibly chic buy before it inevitably sells out. I've also rounded up some more rich-looking H&M buys below. You're welcome!
