With a new season on the horizon, there are plenty of cool winter trends that are about to unfold on the fashion scene. I truly love layering on the coats and boots that go hand in hand with the winter months, but it’s really all of the holiday fashion trends that make me look forward to style at this time of the year. After all, there’s no better excuse to get dressed up than party season. So what are the trends that are about to sweep the fashion circuit next month?

Ahead, I’m highlighting the key trends to know that you’re about to see among the best-dressed insiders. From the bold colors that will make a high impact to the ’80s-era pieces that will lend outfits retro glamour to inventive ways of wearing crystals and more, there is plenty of inspiration here. These will be the hardest-working (and most fun) pieces to add to your wardrobe as the year comes to a close. Go on to discover the four essential holiday fashion trends that will define 2019 and our edit of pieces to wear.

Hot Colors

Bold, fiery shades are everywhere for the holidays this season—a fresh take on color for the holidays, replacing the standard jewel tones that always reappear at this time of the year. Look for warm colors like orange, yellow, red, and fuschia that instantly make a statement. The only rule to follow here? Don't shy away from strong shades.

Ornate Feathers

Any excuse to wear feathers is good by me, and right now there are many reasons to add feather pieces to your wardrobe with all of the incredible designs hitting retailers at the moment. This holiday season, look for tops finished with plush feathers along the hem or sleeves, or a bag trimmed with them like this Rosantica style I'm eyeing.

Shop the trend:

’80s Opulence

From puffy sleeves and statement earrings to crystal buckles and ruffled necklines, ’80s-inspired designs will be in full effect for the holidays. Think of these items as the ultimate party pieces.

Crystal Details

Crystals were a big trend during the holidays last year—and no doubt will always be a staple for party season—but they have now been reimagined in new ways. Crystal-trimmed tops, cascading fringe, diamanté bags—there's a lot to love. And perhaps my favorite iteration? The crystal chain details on a dress designed by David Koma that was recently spotted on Rosie Huntington-Whiteley.
