Hey Look—It's The First Cult Coat of Autumn 2019
If you haven't been acquainted with the brand House of Sunny yet, you're about to fall in love. The Instagram brand that is actually quite affordable has been around since 2011, but last season it became the go-to spot for style stars to find out-of-the-box fashion pieces. Now stocked on ASOS and Urban Outfitters, House of Sunny does so much right; from their colour palettes, to fun shapes and cult pieces. The thing they do best though is coats. Their coats are trend-driven, but unique in their vintage feel; they will always stand out on your morning commute. Their green reptile coat with a removable leopard-print collar (now sold out, sadly) went viral last year, securing House of Sunny as our first stop for fashion-forward outerwear.
So it is no surprise that this autumn they've already released the new cult coat of the season, the "Penny" coat, and we might just love it even more than the last. Inspired by '70s films, this coat is made from faux brown leather, with a thick faux shearling trim, and a square neckline. It's neutral hue and throwback silhouette makes it look like a fab vintage find with a modern twist. It's no wonder that it has already been spotted on our feeds.
Hanna Stefansson, who is always first to jump on trends and cult pieces, has already worn the coat while at London Fashion Week. She paired hers with a blue Rixo dress and brown knee-high boots to create street style-ready look. Keep scrolling to see who else is wearing the coat and, if you love it, to shop it before it sells out.
Style Notes: We love seeing how style stars are pairing this coat with bold colours, not shying away from bright hues for the cooler months.
Style Notes: Minimalists are loving this coat too. It works so well with a head-to-toe black outfit and sneakers, just as well as it does with something more dressed up.
SHOP THE COAT
If you want to be really quite ahead of the trend curve, the coat also comes in the shade of green we saw all over the London Fashion Week runways. This paler hue is such a fresh colour for an autumn/winter wardrobe. We love how Ellie from Slip Into Style wears hers with jeans, a white tee, and simple black ankle boots.
We have a feeling we'll be seeing lots more from this colour after spotting it at Victoria Beckham, Rejina Pyo and Molly Goddard, so this wouldn't be a one-season only type of purchase. We've seen it worn with beiges and taupes so it works surprisingly well as neutral tone.
SHOP THE COAT
If the retro shape of the faux shearling "Penny" coat is too much of a style commitment for you, but you love the colour, the brand also released a fab faux leather jacket that has large pockets and a simple shape. This works well layered over patterned dresses or button-down tops and trousers.
With each season, House of Sunny gets stronger and stronger; there's so much to love! From rich browns and pale greens of their outerwear, to the nature-inspired prints and knits, the autumn collection is sure to become an Instagram hit so we recommend grabbing the pieces you love most soon...
