Cleansing, moisturizing, and masking are just a few (of the many) steps in my skincare routine—things I would never think to skip—but somehow, I've never really had the same mindset when it comes to my scalp, which is skin, too, people! I don't know if it's because I'm getting older, more stressed, or just haven't been to the salon in months, but my head is in desperate need of some TLC, and it finally has my attention.

If I want healthy, strong hair, my scalp needs to be healthy sans any buildup from excess sebum, dead skin cells, pollutants, or products. Which means I need a treatment that can cleanse and exfoliate thoroughly to remove product residue, dry shampoo, and general grime. Scalp care might not be the most glamorous, but I'm willing to do whatever it takes to feel and look my best, and my co-workers feel the same.

In the name of self-care, two team members and I decided to test the Head Shoulders Supreme Exfoliating Scalp Scrub, which is part of the brand's new Supreme collection: a line of products aimed at providing long-lasting scalp benefits and beautiful, healthy hair. Formulated with ingredients inspired by skincare like argan oil and vitamin E, most of the collection also includes zinc pyrithione, which helps with scalp itchiness, dryness, and irritation. The shampoos and conditioners are also free of phosphates, parabens, phthalates, dyes, and ethanol.

So did the scrub actually help? Keep scrolling for our honest reviews, then shop the entire Head Shoulders Supreme collection below.

I'll be honest: I've never used a scalp treatment before. I have no good reason as to why, but part of it has to do with me being worried about my scalp feeling dry afterward. I've officially been proven wrong. Not only does this scrub have the loveliest, most calming scent ever, but when I massaged it into my wet hair pre-shampoo, I felt as if I was getting the ultimate scrub down. It lathered up nicely, and my hair felt super clean and fresh. I followed it up with shampoo and conditioner and let my hair air dry as usual. I swear all day my hair just felt lighter and healthier. I'm sold.

I’ve used scalp treatments before, and I always have the same issue: My hair feels super dry for days after. (Not even the best hair mask can cure it!) After reading about the Supreme Exfoliating Scalp Scrub, I was skeptical (to be honest, I was already preparing the hair oil I thought I’d have to put on after), but I was excited to give it a try. I was pleasantly surprised with a clean, spa-like scent and a texture that didn’t seem too harsh. After scrubbing it into my scalp, I almost instantly felt the buildup getting washed away. I followed it up with a little bit of shampoo and conditioner and rinsed everything out. Afterward, I was so happy to find that my hair felt so soft and could be brushed out without any trouble. I definitely will be using this again!

As a self-proclaimed beauty-product junkie, I'm almost embarrassed to admit I've never used a scalp treatment of any kind. It's shocking because I love anything that makes a shower feel less like a chore and more like a self-care ritual, which is exactly how it felt after using the Head and Shoulders Supreme Exfoliating Scalp Scrub Treatment. The slightly gritty texture is incredibly soothing when massaged into my scalp, and I really liked the calming scent, too. Want to feel like you're at the spa while also doing something good for your hair? This will do it.
