Katie Holmes Is Here to School Us on How to Wear Low-Rise Jeans From Now On
Celebrity/new street style star Katie Holmes just turned in yet another great look, and this time it features one of the most controversial of denim trends on the scene: low-rise jeans. (We've noticed recently that Holmes isn't one to just stick to one style of jeans, so there's an element of surprise whenever she steps out in a pair.) As you know, low-rise jeans have gotten a bad rap since the stretchy, ultra-low styles that were so ubiquitous in the early 2000s. Recent denim trends have gone in quite the opposite direction—pinch waist, ribcage, etc.—so we admittedly do a double-take when we see low-waisted denim out in the wild.
Holmes's denim choice is far from the low-rise jeans of years past. Hers appear to be made of 100% cotton (which is a good idea if you want to far remove yourself from those low-rise jeans you wore in 2005), and she paired them with a tucked-in slim turtleneck and flat lace-up ankle boots. It's a simple fall outfit to try, no matter how high your jeans rise.
