The 9-Piece Wardrobe That Defines Hypebae Style
Hypebae style is really inspiring me right now. What strikes me most is that it’s tapping into streetwear in such a cool way that feels relevant and of the moment. The looks are built around a heavy mix of cool athleisure brands (sneakers are essential) and luxury labels (the more logos, the better), and the outfits are really tapping into the whole sneakerhead culture where there’s a hunger for exclusive and limited-edition items.
In my own way, I’ve taken inspiration from Hypebae style by incorporating elements like cargo pants into my personal wardrobe. And I’ll be the first to admit that by slipping into the workwear-inspired pants, I instantly felt a little cooler—but I’ve really only scratched the surface. This got me thinking about what Hypebae style is all about and the key pieces for pulling it off. Ahead I’m breaking down the nine-piece wardrobe that defines Hypebae style so you can try it for yourself.
Logos, logos, logos
Whether you go for pieces from Chanel, Fendi, or Louis Vuitton, make sure they have the brand’s logo printed all over them.
Get yourself a belt bag
Once you secure a belt bag, make sure you wear it high up and across your body.
Stock up on sneakers
The more, the better. You’ll want to fill your closet with cool sneakers—especially those hard-to-get limited-edition versions.
All swoosh everything
You can’t go wrong with Nike. Sneakers are a must, but a windbreaker in a bright color is also key.
Available in sizes 1X to 3X.
White tank top
Here’s a simple piece you can get your hands on: A white ribbed tank top. You know, those ones that were popular in the ’90s and early aughts.
Show your socks
Instead of opting for no-show socks, wear ankle or knee-high versions. Bonus points if they’re printed with a logo.
Supreme is essential
Every Hypebae wardrobe requires at least one piece from Supreme—but if you can layer a few, that’s fantastic.
Stick to one color
When in doubt, go monochrome with your athleisure. And no, it doesn’t hurt to throw in some Yeezy.
Wide pants
Skinny jeans? Don’t even think about it. Instead, you’ll want to wear loose-fitting utilitarian pants.
