I'm in a Jeans Rut, But These 5 Styles Actually Have Me Excited

I wear jeans nearly every day, so it makes sense that I've grown a little tired of my go-to pairs as of late. Typically, I stick to slim, vintage-leaning styles with a mid to high waist and a slight flare. Cropped or ankle-grazing jeans have been my jam for years, too, which has always meant a trip to the tailor immediately after purchase considering I'm 5'3" (5'3 1/2" on a good day). But as the denim trend tides have changed, so have I.

These days, I can't get enough of wide-leg jeans, and it's not hard to see why. Nearly every cool pair of denim that's come on the scene this year has revolved around a baggier silhouette, as you'll discover below. While ankle-length styles are still current, I've been embracing the floor-grazing puddle jeans pretty much every fashion person with an Instagram has been wearing (good news for me, bad news for my tailor), and honestly, it's felt really good to switch it up.

To see the five denim styles I'm particularly excited about right now, keep scrolling. Your jeans rut ends here.

Dark Wash

I'm not quite sure how else to put it, but dark-wash jeans just feel cool right now. They're also a little less casual in comparison to the lighter hues we see so much of.

'90s Straight Leg

Okay, I know I made the case for wide-leg jeans earlier, but slimmer, '90s-inspired styles feel both effortless and refined. I especially like the way Salomé Mory has paired her low-slung ones with a crop top and cardigan above.

Utilitarian

There are definitely more overt examples of utilitarian jeans out there, but I'm partial to the subtle carpenter detail of Linda Tol's choice. Plus, I love white denim.

Cuffed

Monikh Dale is petite like I am, and rather than tailoring her jeans, she cuffs them. The key to this laid-back look is to keep the cuff long so that your denim still grazes the floor.

Pleated

For my next trick, I'll turn jeans into trousers. Consider your closet instantly upgraded.
