Kate Middleton Just Wore the Trend That's All Over Instagram

Dressing for somber state occasions must surely require a great deal of thought. There is no getting around the fact that the outfit decisions of royals have been documented for decades (if not longer, thanks to the introduction of photography and television), and events such as yesterday's Remembrance Sunday demands a deep level of understanding, respect and attention. Occasion ensembles often have to adhere to many rules and regulations, and the Duchess of Cambridge has become a fantastic figurehead for being a smart, elegant, respectful dresser.

Hosted at the Cenotaph in Whitehall, central London, and from within Westminster Abbey, the commemorations of the UK Commonwealth's servicemen and civilian contributions to both World Wars and later conflicts saw many members of the royal family gather in unison to pay their respects.

Kate Middleton has been impressing us recently: She has been flying the flag once more for re-wearing her investment pieces (such as this lilac Emilia Wickstead dress and her favorite green gown) but also making some more daring, fresh fashion choices (see the velvet pumps she's favoring instead of those classic nude ones or the bold color she wore to Meghan and Harry's nuptials). Today's look nodded to the military focus of the proceedings—rather than take the most traditional route with a plain black piece. She chose a navy tailored Alexander McQueen coat with a band collar, epaulets, gold buttons, and a neat contrast waistband.

See Middleton's outfit choice below, as well as what she wore for last night's Festival of Remembrance and the follow-up Chanel coat and exaggerated headband (a trend that's currently gaining lots of momentum on Instagram, thanks to Prada) she chose to change into for the evening service at Westminster Abbey.
