The Cool-Girl Jewelry L.A. Girls Are Obsessing Over

When it comes to accessorizing, it can be tempting to throw on your go-to pair of studs and a stack of simple rings and call it a day. But if you really want to take your look to the next level, you’ll want to dedicate a bit more time to finding the perfect finishing touches. And nobody knows this better than L.A. girls: Take it from blogger Sophie Elkus of Angel Food Style, who tells us she relies on bold statement jewelry when she wants to amp up an outfit.
"I do wear a lot of color, and I’m not afraid of prints, which I think is influenced by L.A.,” the native Angeleno explains. "Even if I’m wearing a black dress or an all-white look, I love to pair it with colorful jewelry. It’s so much fun to play with statement pieces because of how much impact they bring to even the simplest look.”
Keep scrolling to see how Elkus uses statement jewelry from BaubleBar to accessorize outfits for three different outings in the City of Angels.
Brunch With Friends
Weekend brunch with friends has become a cherished ritual, and we spend more time than we’d like to admit sifting through Yelp reviews to find the perfect Instagrammable dish and deconstructed latte. While expending your energy on restaurant selection, make putting together your outfit a piece of cake. "When I’m at brunch with girlfriends, I like to play up my jewelry, not only because my stylish friends will appreciate it, but because it’s a fun setting where anything goes,” Elkus says. "It calls for something unabashedly sparkly and feminine.”
For this reason, the blogger opted for a black lace bodysuit contrasted by a billowy white skirt, along with a chunky crystal necklace and earrings. "Sticking to neutral colors allows for the jewelry to take center stage without being overpowering,” she adds.
An Important Meeting
Pretty much anything goes when style is your business, Elkus notes, but it’s a different story when you have an important meeting with a client on your calendar. "In my opinion, white trousers are possibly one of the chicest things you can wear,” the blogger explains. "I [played] off the pants with these white earrings. I love the graduated sizing and the fabric material; it’s so unique from your average pair of jeweled earrings.” Bonus: This pair is super light, so your lobes won’t be aching as you work on closing that deal.
A Night Out on the Town
For Elkus, a jumpsuit is the perfect piece for a night out in L.A. "It’s amazing how cool they look with such minimal effort,” she explains. "Since my outfit is one single piece and it’s black, I wanted to play it up with a fun color and larger earrings.” She finished off the look with a bold red lip and a gold bag with a matching tassel.
