Lana Condor Just Helped Us Shop for All of Our Holiday Gifts
You probably know Lana Condor from her role in the hugely popular (and absolutely entertaining) To All the Boys films. But the actress is also a producer, singer, and foodie. (She's always sharing her eats on Instagram.) And this holiday season, she's adding a new role to her résumé: a partnership with Pink on its Unwrapped video series, which is a new take on the classic holiday variety show.
The campaign focuses on the importance of taking care of your mental health this season. I think most, if not all, of us know that the holidays can be a stressful and hectic time, and it can really take a toll on your mental health. Pink is also partnering with The Jed Foundation to share well-being resources. You can check it out at justpresspause.com.
We got a chance to chat with Condor about her collaboration with Pink, her self-care tips, and how she's celebrating the holidays this year. See what she had to say below.
How will you be celebrating the holidays this year? What are your favorite parts about the holidays?
I love Thanksgiving, as it involves all of my favorite things: eating, cooking, sleeping, and being with my mom and my dad. I haven't seen them in so long, and I'm so excited to get to spend some quality time with them.
The holidays can be stressful. How do you prioritize your mental health during that time?
This might sound cliché, but it is so true—you cannot love others the way you want to until you love yourself. You have to put yourself first! When we're growing up, we're told to care for others, so the concept of loving myself before others seemed wild and not right. But you have to care about yourself and be the person you want to be for yourself. It's not selfish to put your mental health first.
What are your self-care rituals?
Taking baths and turning off my phone are big ones for me. I go through these phases where if I'm just feeling horrible, I'll go on a "silence" retreat and won't speak for a day to just be by myself, not have any social interactions, and tap in. It sounds crazy, but if you're feeling overwhelmed or exhausted, I would implore you to try this for one day—just sit and talk with yourself to weed out your thoughts. It is okay to just hang out with yourself as you need to recharge!
Can you talk a little bit about your partnership with Pink?
I'm so excited to partner with Pink to celebrate the holidays this year! I'm really proud to be part of their Unwrapped campaign because they recognize that while this is a time to be fun and festive, it can also be a bit overwhelming. As part of the campaign, Pink is donating $200,000 to their partner, The Jed Foundation, to provide resources to help us all prioritize mental health and practice self-care this season.
How do you shop for/find gifts? Do you consider yourself a good gift giver?
I do consider myself a good gift giver! I lean into gift guides, which help me shop for my favorite items. I also think a thoughtful letter can go a really long way. It is such a good way to speak from the heart, which means a lot to people.
