At the onset of summer, the months are filling up with some of the most-anticipated cultural moments the year. Big-budget films, art and music festivals, concert tours, and major sports races will influence what everyone is talking about and adding to their calendars. Plus, of course, there are buzzy new hotel openings that are primed to inspire where the fashion set will book upcoming vacations. Venice will draw A-list crowds from art and cinema with the Venice Biennale and Venice Film Festival, while New York will appeal to sports enthusiasts will the arrival of the Sail Grand Prix and US Open.
For those seeking out the newest and coolest on the hotel front, there are yet-to-open resorts that will be welcoming their first guests for the summer season. The Six Bells Countryside Inn in Hudson Valley offers something for New Yorkers looking to escape the city, while the AndBeyond Suyian Lodge in Kenya and the Gundari Resort in Folegandros, Greece, offer something further from home. Meanwhile, it’s set to be a blockbuster summer with big releases including Jurassic World Rebirth, F1, and Freakier Friday, as well as new seasons of And Just Like That… and The Bear. Each summer, the art world convenes in Italy for Venice Biennale. It focuses on art and architecture in alternating years, and for summer 2025, it's all about architecture. Curated by architect Carlo Ratti, the theme of this year's Venice Architectural Biennale is "Natural. Artificial. Collective."

At the beginning of June, the film world arrives in New York City for the Tribeca Film Festival, famously founded by actor Robert De Niro in 2002. This year’s films will include Yanuni from producer Leonardo DiCaprio the debut of Miley Cyrus's visual album, Something Beautiful. The 1975, Neil Young, and Olivia Rodrigo are the headliners for the 2025 Glastonbury Festival, a five-day outdoor music event set in the English village of Pilton in Somerset. The fashion is as iconic as the music, which includes everything from barn jackets and vintage slips to minidresses and muddy Wellington boots.

Alongside the Cannes Film Festival, the Venice Film Festival is one of the most glamorous and prestigious events in cinema from the year. The oldest film festival in the world, it’s steeped in history and tradition and known as a place to debut Oscar-contending films. While the lineup hasn’t been released yet, early predictions about potential films include Raoul Peck's documentary Orwell, Scarlett Johansson's directorial debut Eleanor the Great, and Luca Guadagnino’s After the Hunt.

Motorsport fans will want to tune in for the British Grand Prix coming up this summer. Held in the village of Silverstone in England, where it has taken place since 1950, it’s known as Silverstone to Formula 1 fans. The popular event is one of the biggest races on the F1 racing schedule.

Relatively new to New York, the Sail Grand Prix will take place this summer for the third time. The waterfront event brings an iconic sailing competition to the New York Harbor. Guests watch from Governors Island with the backdrop of NYC’s iconic skyline. It’s part of a season of international grand prix around the world as teams compete in F50 boats for the SailGP title.

Arriving near the end of summer, the US Open is one of the most-anticipated tennis competitions of the year. It will bring tennis fans to New York to watch the biggest names in the sport compete in the hard-court event for the championship title. It arrives in the middle of New York Fashion Month, often drawing guests who are in town to see the fashion shows unfold.

The Gundari Resort opened last year in Folegandros—a lesser-known island in the Cyclades in an unspoiled part of Greece. New Yorkers looking for a long-weekend escape will soon have a new spot in the Hudson Valley to add to their agenda. The home-goods store Six Bells is exploring a new hospitality concept this summer with the opening of The Six Bells Countryside Inn in Rosendale, New York. The three-story historic building includes 11 rooms and takes inspiration from the traditional aesthetics of the English and American countrysides.

A new luxury lodge from the AndBeyond group will open within Kenya’s 44,000-acre Suyian Conservancy, giving adventurers a chance to plan a safari experience among the remarkable wildlife and varied landscape of the area. Situated within the unique rocky terrain of Suyian, features sculptural architecture that blends with the natural surroundings. In addition to the safari outings, the property offers unique experiences including ranching tours, helicopter slights, bush walks, and other immersive experiences.

London is getting a new hotel hot spot with the upcoming arrival of The Newman Hotel, set to open in September. It will be coming to the buzzy Fitzrovia neighborhood, designed with Art Deco touches, a European brasserie, cocktail bar, and an entire wellness floor.

Wes Anderson returns to the big screen this summer with the arrival of The Phoenician Scheme, a film the director conceived with Roman Coppola. Formula One will draw sports fans to races across the globe, including the upcoming grand prix in Monaco and Silverstone, but the fascination with the sport doesn’t end there. The F1 film, starring Brad Pitt, will hit theaters this summer, bringing the automotive sport to the big screen. All 10 Formula One teams and their drivers from the 2023 season will make appearances as themselves in the movie, including Lewis Hamilton, Max Verstappen, Charles Leclerc, and Carlos Sainz Jr.

In the series, Carrie Bradshaw will be focused on writing a new novel as the characters continue to navigate life and love in NYC.

After two buzzy seasons, cult-favorite show The Bear is returning for its fourth season on FX and Hulu in June. Rumors are already swirling that this season of the comedy-drama will be very different, but little has been released about the plot, so fans will have to tune it to see how it unfolds. Regulars including Jeremy Allen White, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Ayo Edebiri, and Matty Matheson are set to return.

Following Beyoncé’s first Album of the Year Grammy win for Cowboy Carter, she is kicking off the Cowboy Carter Tour. It starts in the United States with stops including Houston, Atlanta, and Las Vegas before heading to international locales including London and Paris. For the country album tour, Beyoncé enlisted fashion houses Mugler, Alexander McQueen, Diesel, Roberto Cavalli, and Burberry for custom Western-inspired looks.

English rock band Oasis is set to launch its much-anticipated five-month tour, which begins in Cardiff, Wales, and ends at the Estádio do Morumbi in São Paulo. The reunion tour will be the band’s first live performance since they split in 2009 and will include Liam and Noel Gallagher alongside other original band members.

The candid memoir gives an inside look as the New York luminary resists his childhood and how his dining institutions shaped New York. Cultural figures including Anna Wintour and Martha Stewart shared their praise ahead of the book’s release.
One of the most coveted tickets on Broadway for summer is Good Night, and Good Luck. The play was written by George Clooney and Grant Heslov, who adapted it from the 2005 film. The historical drama examines the 1950s conflict between veteran CBS journalist Edward R. Murrow and U.S. Senator Joseph McCarthy. The play marks the Broadway debut for Clooney, who appears among a star-studded cast including Robert Downey Jr., Jeff Daniels, Patricia Clarkson, and Tate Donovan.
The Met’s Sargent Paris explores the extraordinary beginning works of artist John Singer Sargent during his early years in Paris. The exhibition will run this summer through August 3 and includes around 100 works of art, including everything from sketches to daring masterpieces to the iconic Madame X that debuted in scandalous success at the Paris Salon of 1884. The exhibition will explore the importance of sartorial style to the formation of Black identities in the Atlantic diaspora.
