These Are the Trends You're About to See All Over London in 2022
They may say that the French have a certain je ne sais quoi when it comes to fashion, but in our opinion, nothing beats a London girl’s wardrobe. Maybe it’s the eclecticism or originality ingrained in British fashion, or maybe it’s the determination in the face of the erratic seasons and demands of city life. Either way, there’s always something unique about how they interpret the trends on offer. Parisians may have that refined simplicity down, but no one does relaxed cool like a Londoner.
That’s why, when we’re stuck in a style rut heading into a new season, or new year in this case (how did that happen, BTW?), we always make a point to turn to some of our favourite London girls to see what they’re wearing and how they’re wearing it. Since they’re usually pretty ahead of the times, below we’ve pinpointed 10 trends they’ve already started championing that we predict will become regular programming pretty quickly in 2022.
They range from small adaptations on existing trends—wide jeans are getting slightly looser, boots still chunky but with added laces—to some new obsessions, like the cut-out top, barely there cardigan and the return of the dungarees. As we said, it’s also about how they’re wearing pieces, like repurposing the everyday knit as a scarf, a classic example of London girls using fashion to always be prepared. The main thread running through them all? They’re all easy to copy, so you’re in luck.
