The One Detail We’ve Seen in Every New Collection

We love nothing more than spotting micro trends when new collections are launched—and last week when Resort 17 was presented at Fashion Week Australia, there was one trend that ruled them all. All week, we saw long, floaty ties pop up in almost every collection—and street stylers are already catching on.
We spotted the trend on day one at Maticevski, and then it popped up everywhere from Ginger Smart, to Georgia Alice, Karla Spetic, Bec Bridge, and more.
How is it that so many designers can embrace the same trend at the same time? It probably has something to do with us being on the other side of the world—we first saw this trend on the S/S 16 international runway circuit, or, it’s a case of timing. Often, mini detailed trends like this trickle throughout designer collections for a few seasons, but it’s only when everyone does it at once, that it becomes evident. Ellery for example, has featured this detail in a few recent collections, most recently A/W 16.
Keep scrolling to see the trend in the Resort 17 collections it popped up in, then shop a few pieces if you’re keen to jump on it ASAP.
