L.A. Girls Don't Get Enough Credit for Their Killer Street Style
We recently wrapped another successful season of Street Style Cinema at The Grove, screening four of our favorite musicals outdoors on The Lawn with some of our favorite fashion girls (read: you!) in attendance. There were drinks, there were light bites, there was music, there were fun giveaways from our friends at Michael Kors (shout-out to the Graffiti collection), and there were street style worthy ensembles all over the place—take a look at some of our favorite looks from each week.
I’m of the opinion that L.A. girls don’t get enough credit for their street style looks—and that’s not just because I’ve spent most of my days on the Best West Coast (although I admit my brain may be permanently altered by our surfeit of sunshine). Check out the outfits below from this year’s Street Style Cinema and just try telling me the Los Angeles style set aren’t cooler than cool. See you next year at the movies!
WEEK 4: LA LA LAND
What better way to close out a screening series in L.A. than with La La Land, a musical celebration of our fair city? We co-hosted the evening with Michael Kors, hanging out in-store before heading over to the lawn, where guests were treated to personalized pouches and could check out MK’s latest wares. As for the looks we spotted on the assembled Angelenos, we couldn’t help but notice all the raw-hem denim and summer-ready stripes. Looking good, Los Angeles.
Things kicked off at The Grove’s Michael Kors store, where guests mixed, mingled, listened to music, and checked out pieces from the designer’s Graffiti collection.
Here’sBest Knockoff Luxury Clothing EIC Kat Collings chatting it up with a couple of attendees.
Michael Kors also had the Graffiti collection on display on The Lawn, where guests could try on key pieces for themselves.
Very into this graphic tee and gingham pants situation. Not to mention those vacation-worthy cat eyes.
Off to invest in a good vinyl jacket myself now, thanks.
If you really want to wow fashion editors, make sure to pose with a pup. In double denim.
We never met an embroidered sweatshirt we didn’t like.
A slick topknot and gold hoops = the perfect finishing touch on every outfit we’ll be wearing in the foreseeable future.
It’s also rare that you’ll find us without a glass of rosé in hand this time of year once the sun goes down.
An oversize button-down goes from office to after-hours effortlessly. Also, check out those lemon-yellow
DJ Lindsay Luv rocking the crowd (and this beyond-cool Michael Kors Graffiti jacket).
It doesn’t get more quintessentially L.A. than this fun gingham jumpsuit and custom denim jacket.
Raw-edge denim makes a dreamy dual appearance.
We hope you snagged a personalized Michael Kors tote for your summer travels.
WEEK 3: PITCH PERFECT
You came (to The Grove), you saw (Pitch Perfect), and you conquered (with your coolest summer evening worthy street style looks). We don’t know how your voices are, but we’re willing to bet y’all (there’s my native Texan coming out) would make one super-stylish a capella group at the very least. We’d like to raise a glass—of La Marca prosecco, natch—to the looks and trends that especially caught our eye: Here’s to the rainbow stripes, breezy white linen, statement sunglasses, and seriously good denim summer style is made of.
Prepared to drop major $$$ to re-create this look? Let me be the bearer of incredibly good news: The rainbow-stripe top and matching skirt come from our deceptively affordableBest Knockoff Luxury Clothing collection. (Just add ’90s-inspired Calvin Klein.)
Trying not to play favorites here, but I’ll never tire of a good color-clashing streetwear look (especially when fishnets are involved). This one just happens to feature one of the logo tees of the moment in the sunny hue I’ve been maniacally adding to my wardrobe as of late.
BRB, running across the office to askBest Knockoff Luxury Clothing Managing Editor Michelle Scanga where she scooped up that translucent tortoiseshell tote. (Already added her Who What Wear collection pants to cart.)
The best way to spend a Thursday evening in L.A.? Catching a movie outside with good company—even better with cocktails, obviously.
This one reads like a checklist of L.A. street style must-haves. High-rise denim? ✓ Western-inspired booties? ✓ Wide-brim hat? ✓✓✓
Further evidence to compel you to add this rainbow-stripe shirt to cart ASAP, should you need it.
Like our resident DJ (and mom-to-be) Lindsay Luv, we’re advocates of introducing little ones to good movies and music early. And those excellent chunky sandals. And that Who What Wear collection bag.
The formula here? Take a lightweight trench (classic or leopard print—your choice), add in vintage denim, and top with vacation-ready sunglasses. Repeat as necessary. Cotton candy optional (but encouraged, obviously).
Once the sun goes down, is there anything better than a cozy oversize flannel button-down?
Laid-back (yet incredibly put-together) looks in our VIP lounge. Care to venture a guess as to where that incredible square-neck chambray dress is from?
Raising our glass to this excellent rust-hued jumpsuit on Clique’s Libby Strachan.
You know Coco Chanel’s oft-referenced “take one accessory off before leaving the house” rule? Forget about it. Can you imagine this look without all the statement-making details?
This look’s got me feeling especially grateful for the resurgence of ’90s fashion. You just know Jennifer Aniston wore a dress like this one circa 1996. (Probably the same shoes, too, come to think of it.) Bonus points for the logo-print belt-bag situation.
Week 2: Moulin Rouge!
If you’re anything like me, you left last week’s Street Style Cinema screening of Moulin Rouge! and have been humming “Lady Marmalade” at your desk all workweek long (hi, I’m just over here waiting for Xtina, Mýa, Lil’ Kim, and P!nk to reunite). Special shoutout to Ladurée for keeping the light bites flowing in our VIP section—I just might have a macaron problem now. Trending this week: lots of statement eyewear, plus all sorts of fresh takes on the classic denim jacket.
Remember when I said L.A. girls give good street style? Witness the perfect pink-and-red combo, plus wide-leg denim and bright-white accessories. A round of applause, please.
I don’t know about you, but the Street Style Cinema VIP area is giving me the sudden urge to redecorate my apartment.
Someone gets the power of a logo tee. And bold retro eyewear. And a statement red lip.
The case for creepers? Fully made.
This just in: Wholesale Replica Bag happy pieces from our Who What Wear collection. HELLO, PRINTS.
I already regret the pun I’m about to type, but DJ Lindsay Luv’s nails are seriously on point.
Rosé under the stars with our buds? Don’t mind if we do.
The kind of jumpsuit summer wardrobes are made of.
Space buns: the coolest (and most intergalactic) hairstyle of the summer. Also, this is a really good denim jacket update.
Oh, you didn’t know we do shoes? Seriously affordable chic shoes? (BTW, I’m wearing these today.)
All-black with a rainbow twist. (And further proof that basket bags go with everything.)
A lightweight denim duster = the summer layering piece we’re adding to cart ASAP. Also, please DM us and tell us where these blue jeans are from.
Week 1: 500 Days of Summer
Street Style Cinema 2018 kicked off with a screening of 500 Days of Summer, a quintessential L.A. choice that had our guests in high spirits (and not just because of the cute Bev Rose cans and La Marca prosecco our bartenders were serving). DJ Lindsay Luv spun tunes while guests got set up on the lawn (and posed for photos against our selfie wall), grabbed cotton candy, and checked out new pieces from the WWW collection. We spotted some sweet pastel shades, bright strappy sandals, and our editorial director in a green maxi-dress that definitely deserves a special mention.
We need a suede jacket in this fresh cherry-red hue, like, yesterday. Also, adding a pair of micro-mini cat-eye sunglasses to literally any outfit is your quickest way instant cool.
Here’s our very own EIC, Kat Collings, rocking a Who What Wear collection dress that’s going to sell out in 3, 2, 1…
Apologies, but you can’t take the super-chic rugs with you.
New plan: matching all our outfits to our snacks. ????
Speaking of snacks, did we mention the free popcorn?
Look closely and appreciate those flower-cuffed jeans in all their perfectly extra glory.
DJ Lindsay Luv is a Street Style Cinema staple. (And she also happens to be decked out in our dream layered-necklace situation.)
Our obsession with off-the-shoulder tops hasn’t waned, and we’re especially into summer 2018’s updated Victorian detailing.
The Street Style Cinema bartenders are out here serving looks (and drinks).
Someone tell us where we can find this micro-jacket, please and thanks.
Flip through our rack of new-seasonBest Knockoff Luxury Clothing pieces; then shop your favorites here.
Taking our quote wall to heart.
Vintage-vibe silk scarves? Check. The perfect slides? Check. 2018’s dream sunglasses? Check(!!). This has been your daily reminder that good style is all about the details.
Free totes? Say no more.
Just found the strappy green sandals my summer wardrobe was missing.
Until next week, friends…
