Here Are the Exact Products Used to Create Our Favorite Makeup Looks at the VMAs
Whether or not it's official, every award show has a theme. That rang true at last night's MTV Video Music Awards. Sartorially, the theme (much like Taylor Swift's new album) could be described as midnight—nearly every star on the red carpet was wearing black or a dark hue.
For beauty, there were plenty of different looks, but the common tropes that kept cropping up over and over again were smoky eyes and bold lips. Whether they were paired together like in Lizzo's look or worn separately like in Taylor Swift's and Dove Cameron's, these makeup trends stole the show.
You could attempt to blend shades of blue to imitate Lizzo's navy lips or find a dupe for Cameron's neutral shimmery eye makeup, or you could re-create their looks using the exact products. Below, we've rounded up the same products these celebrities' makeup artists used on them. Keep reading for breakdowns of our favorite makeup looks.
Taylor Swift
Swift's makeup was done by Dame Pat McGrath using her eponymous line. "It's always an absolute joy to work with the most divine Taylor Swift on creating a timeless red carpet look," says McGrath in a press release. "Tonight's look for the 2022 VMAs was sophisticated, sultry and sublime." The star paired a classic red lip with a cat eye, but her eye look was emphasized with on-trend face jewels.
Lizzo
Created by celebrity makeup artist Alexx Mayo, Lizzo's VMAs look was absolutely otherworldly. The star rocked a subtle smoky eye and a faux lip ring reminiscent of the F/W 22 Off-White runway, but it was her indigo lips that stole the show. It turns out Mayo opted to use an eyeliner duo to create the shade rather than a blue lipstick.
Dove Cameron
While Cameron's glossy, taupe-toned lips might not immediately seem like a bold choice, there's no denying that it's one of the first things you notice about her glam. That and her impeccably artistic smoky eye, of course. Celebrity makeup artist Kale Teter used KVD products to craft this stunning look.
