I Popped Into Mango and Was Tempted by These 8 Pieces
Online shopping is great and all, but sometimes you just need to see clothes up close to really appreciate the quality and the fit and see whether something is actually worth the investment. I am a much more efficient shopper in-store. That’s why, as editors, we aim to provide as much detail as possible to help you re-create this experience when shopping virtually, saving you hours of aimless scrolling and endless trips to the post office with failed returns.
This spring, our editors have been assigned a few brands each and will try on the new collections in order to cherry-pick the best of the best. We’ve already taken you into the changing rooms at Zara, M&S, COS, Arket and H&M, and now it’s my turn to show you the strongest items from Mango’s spring collection.
Over the past five or so years, Mango has repositioned itself as one of the strongest players on the high street, leading the way when it comes to directional design and working with some of the most respected names in the industry to gain credibility. Just last month, Alexa Chung, Katie Holmes, Gigi Hadid and Sienna Miller all wore the same cream £89 Mango coat.
The brand has recently revamped its Oxford Street flagship, meaning the in-store experience now matches the aesthetic of its online brand. It’s 1400 square metres and spans three floors, meaning there is a lot of product to choose from. After several trips to the changing room, I narrowed down my selection to eight standout pieces that look really expensive.
Mango always excels at creating classic wardrobe staples but with interesting details that make them feel more fashion forward. The loafers, for example, are elevated with a square toe or chunky heel, the check blazer has no collar and a tie waist detail, and the trench coat has strong shoulder pads. Keep scrolling to see the eight pieces I loved the most in Mango.
1. Check Blazer
Now, this I LOVED! The tie detailing at the waist makes it really flattering, and I particularly like how it doesn't have a collar and one single button. I decided to wear it with just a bra, but it would also look amazing with jeans or a roll-neck jumper. It comes with a matching miniskirt too.

2. Chunky Chain Loafers
Chunky loafers are trending right now, and these are close to perfect. I love the glossy finish, the gold chain and the track sole.

3. Backless Green Polo
I would never have thought I'd be into a backless polo shirt, but this actually won me over. I love the sage green colour, and it didn't feel as daring when paired with high-waisted trousers. The only sticking point is the bra, as it might be tricky to find a bra that didn't show at the sides.

4. Trench With Shoulder Pads
A trench coat is a spring staple, and this is an amazing choice. The shoulder pads give it a strong fashion edge.

5. Printed Shirt
I love how the single button to the left side gives this shirt almost a tuxedo feel. The sharp silhouette stops it from looking too much like pyjamas.

6. Matching Printed Trousers
This emerald geometric print is really striking, and I love how it looks as a full set. I’d wear with strappy sandals and gold chain jewellery.

7. Jeans With Elasticated Waist
Elasticated jeans might not sound like the chicest thing, but hear me out. The great thing about the elasticated waistband means you don’t get that annoying gaping on the waist, and the flare on the leg makes them look really polished.

8. Chain Loafers
I've saved the best till last. The best thing I saw in Mango was these square-toe loafers, which come in cream and black. The interlocking chains look really high-end.
