6 Outfit Tips I Learned From Writing 49 Meghan Markle Stories Last Year
I follow Meghan Markle's style like it's my job—because it is. While I cover a wide range of celebrities here atBest Knockoff Luxury Clothing , I've become something of a royal expert through my near-daily coverage of Markle's and Kate Middleton's outfit choices (and plenty of royals from other countries as well). Last year alone, I wrote 49 different stories on Markle, spanning everything from her baby shower to her two-week tour of Australia.
While the average person might casually skim through Markle photos, I put in the legwork to find out every single brand she's wearing and where to buy it, so I'm more than a bit familiar with her style. The payoff from analyzing her outfits so closely? I've come away with some royalty-approved outfit tips that are extremely easy to emulate IRL. Scroll down for the best styling suggestions I gleaned from Meghan Markle's wardrobe and shop the trends for yourself.
1. Invest in a Power Pantsuit
The Duchess of Sussex owns a slew of different kinds of pantsuits, from wide-leg to straight-cut to skinny. The styling, however, is usually the same: She pairs them with classic, minimal accessories like black pumps and simple clutches.
On Meghan Markle: Altuzarra pantsuit; Deitas tank top; Stella McCartney clutch
On Meghan Markle: Givenchy pantsuit; Sarah Flint shoes
2. Try Button-Down Shirts Morning, Noon, and Night
A crisp button-down shirt shouldn't just be for the office. Markle's shirting outfits can provide inspiration for work, weekends, and nights out.
On Meghan Markle: Ralph Lauren shirt and trousers; Maison Michel hat; Altuzarra bag; Illesteva sunglasses
On Meghan Markle: Serena blazer; Outland Denim Isabel Jeans in Black ($195); J.Crew ankle boots
On Meghan Markle: Custom Givenchy shirt and skirt; Aquazzura Rendez Vous Mules ($750); Givenchy clutch
3. When in Doubt, Go Monochrome
Picking multiple pieces in the same color is a surefire way to look polished instantly. Monochrome outfits look sophisticated and expensive, no matter the actual price of your clothes. Emulate Markle and try head-to-toe beige or white.
On Meghan Markle: Custom Calvin Klein dress; Amanda Wakeley Cream Sculpted Tailoring Crombie Coat ($1190); Ralph Lauren shoes and bag
On Meghan Markle: Brandon Maxwell blazer and dress; Aquazzura shoes
4. Don't Underestimate Club Monaco
Club Monaco has been Markle's affordable brand of choice, and it's inspired us to bookmark the site and constantly scan for new arrivals.
On Meghan Markle: Club Monaco coat and dress; Givenchy boots
On Meghan Markle: Club Monaco dress; Aquazzura Deneuve Pumps ($750)
5. Try a Little Blazer Dress
A little blazer dress is the new LBD (as far as Markle is concerned). Try swapping your go-to party dress for a tuxedo dress and heels. It's as flattering as it is chic.
On Meghan Markle: Maggie Marilyn blazer dress; Manolo Blahnik pumps
On Meghan Markle: Judith Charles dress
6. Buy Multiple Colors of Your Favorite Shoes
Markle relies on her Aquazzura Deneuve Pumps ($750) time and again, so it only makes sense that she bought them in multiple colors. Don't be afraid to double down on the shoes that strike the perfect balance of comfort and style.
On Meghan Markle: Givenchy dress and pumps; Aquazzura Deneuve Pumps ($750)
On Meghan Markle: Carolina Herrera dress; Aquazzura Deneuve Pumps ($750); J.Crew clutch

Erin got her start as aBest Knockoff Luxury Clothing intern over 13 years ago—back when the site only published a single story per day. (Who What Wear has since increased that number twentyfold.) She graduated magna cum laude from USC, which is how she ended up moving to Los Angeles from her hometown of San Diego. In college, she also interned at Refinery29, where she was promoted to editorial assistant and then assistant editor. After nearly three years at R29, she came back to WWW in 2016, where she currently holds the title of Associate Director of Fashion News (as well as the unofficial title of resident royal expert—in case you haven't noticed her numerous Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton stories). She spends her days trying to incorporate her idols, Anna Wintour and Roger Federer, into as many stories as possible. Outside of work, she loves tennis, classic rock, traveling, and smothering her dog with affection.
