I don't know about you, but I haven't been wearing many shoes lately. Instead, I've pretty much only been wearing cozy socks around the house. On the rare occasion that I do slip my feet into something other than my shearling-lined slippers, they have to be one of the comfiest shoes in my closet. Why? Because it seems that in the span of just a few short weeks indoors, I've become allergic to anything that so much as pinches or rubs in the slightest. Normally, my choice in shoes is 100% driven by trends and sadly comfort takes a back seat. Isn't it funny how quickly priorities can change?

In light of current events and my own shifting sartorial preferences, comfort is now front and center, and yes, that includes shoes. It turns out that several of 2020's major shoe trends overlap with the only types of shoes I really want to wear anymore, and for that, I'm celebrating with a roundup.

Ahead, discover the five most comfortable shoe trends of the year, how fashion people are wearing them, and some of the shopping options that guarantee happy feet. (Sorry, I had to.)

Throwback Sneakers

By now, I'm sure it feels like we're hammering this trend into your heads, but I swear it's because these retro kicks really are everywhere we look and in the closets of the most well-dressed women around the world. Wear one with your sweats now and then pair them with a tailored suit or your go-to jeans later on because if there's a sneaker style that's in it for the long haul, it's these guys.

Sporty Sandals

Channel your adventurous side in 2020's "ugly" sandal trend. With Velcro straps, sporty tech materials, and molded-to-your-foot comfort soles, these elevated sporty sandals go way beyond the hiking trails.

Loafers, Brogues and Mary-Janes

Is boarding-school chic a thing? Because I'm getting scholarly vibes from all the cool loafers, brogues, and mary-janes I'm seeing right now and it's making me lowkey wish I attended one. Take a cue from how fashion girls are wearing the trend and style these by purposefully showing your socks.

Flatforms

Another shoe trend from our favorite decade, this year's crop of flatforms feels undeniably '90s-inspired with its delicate straps and cushy platform soles.

Ballet Flats

Rejoice! Ballet flats are making their grand return. For many, the classic flats never went away, but according to our feeds, they're definitely having a moment right now. Consider the updated details like a square toe or a patent leather finish that give them a fresh feel.

Speaking of shoes, these five happen to look incredible with 2020's #1 denim trend.
