Mulberry Is Relaunching One of Its Most Iconic It Bags, and We're Here For It
Sponsor Content Created With Mulberry
The early 2010s were an interesting time for fashion. On the one hand there were jeggings, slogan T-shirts and wedge sneakers everywhere to be seen. On the other, a golden age of It bags was emerging, and there was one in particular that stood out from the crowd. The Mulberry Alexa, launching at the start of the decade (yes, that’s 10 years ago if you can believe), was on every fashion lover’s wish list in the country. If you didn’t have one, you wanted one.
Inspired by burgeoning style icon Alexa Chung and her charismatic popularity, the brand created a modern, relaxed version of a vintage Mulberry briefcase she was often spotted with. The design— a buttery soft leather satchel style with signature plaited handle— was the hallmark of cool and has since garnered cult status. So much so, there is even due to be one on show from Alexa’s personal collection at the V&A’s forthcoming Bags: Inside Out exhibition.
If you didn’t manage to get your hands on an Alexa back then (some of us are still sore about it, ok) you’re in luck. In the lead up to the iconic British brand’s 50th anniversary next year, they have relaunched the signature silhouette this week. The updated design is instantly recognisable but has been refined for the modern day— in line with Mulberry’s commitment to responsible innovation, notable sustainable changes include the use of leather from gold standard, environmentally accredited tanneries and crafted at the brand’s carbon neutral UK factories.
The result is a timeless design that now epitomises a sustainable approach to luxury. Plus, there’s a whole new range of colours, from earthy neutrals to joyful brights, as well as the brand’s classics like Mulberry green and black. As with the original, there are also a trio of sizes to choose from— the cute mini, classic medium and laptop-friendly oversized (anyone else remember pouring over which one to choose?).
Keep scrolling, then, to shop the updated Alexa, arguably the most sought-after Mulberry bag of a generation.
