We're Fashion Editors—Everything We Saw, Wore, Did, and Ate During NYFW

Those who attend fashion week know this to be all too true: The days are long, but the week still seems to fly by in a split second. Now that New York Fashion Week has descended upon the city again, what better way to dish on everything that's happening than through the lens of our very own editors? Throughout the past seven days, we'll be seeing a stunning array of spring 2025 collections, but despite the clothing that is the week's primary objective, our team is also sure to indulge in a lot of incredible meals, take approximately 100 Uber, train, and bus rides, and, of course, wear plenty of trend-forward outfits.

The week has us going all up and down the isle of Manhattan and even over the river into Brooklyn. We're snapping plenty of pictures, texting plenty of group chats, and posting a veritable Instagram blitz on our feeds. Suffice it to say that our screen time has shot up to a scary degree. In other words, we're doing a lot. If you've ever wondered what a day in the life of a fashion editor attending NYFW is like, you're about to get a taste because I tasked each attendee on our fashion team with reporting on the highlights of each day, from their favorite runway look to the pop culture thing that everyone was talking about to what they ate, drank, and wore. Day 6

WHO: Anna LaPlaca, senior editor

Favorite runway look of the day:

Designer Daniella Kallmeyer staged her first traditional runway show this season, and it was truly a reflection of the community she's built for herself here in New York. Set at a sleek midcentury-designed lighting showroom in midtown, the show included models such as Downtown restaurateur Abby Sierros and tastemaker TyLynn Nguyen, and the front row featured close personal friends such as Chloe Fineman and Jenna Lyons. The collection showcased Kallmeyer's expertise at women's tailoring and her eye for fluidity and movement. My favorite look was one that featured a plaid top with a draped low back, styled simplistically with black trousers and ballet flats. Beautiful and elegant but practical and unfussy—this look is the epitome of the Kallmeyer woman to me.

The trend you're already seeing everywhere:

This may not come as a surprise given why I loved the above runway look, but capes—especially built-in capes—are a trend I've been noticing quite a lot this season. Proenza Schouler, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Tibi, Toteme—each of these brands featured beautiful capes and draped silhouettes in their spring 2025 collections this week.

The best thing you ate and/or drank this day:

I've been using a meal service called MealPal to schedule my lunches ahead of time all week, and it's been my saving grace. Today, I started with a morning show on the Upper West Side followed by a show in the Meatpacking district, and then I had an appointment scheduled in Flatiron. There was simply no time left to spare to sit down for a proper meal, so I popped into Mezeh and picked up my Mediterranean bowl order that was already prepared and ready to go next to the register. I skipped the line, grabbed my order, and walked around the corner to my next appointment, which I arrived at right on time. Talk about efficiency.

The buzziest pop-culture moment of the day:

It was the morning after the presidential debate, and everyone and their mother was talking about the events of the previous evening, including all the internet memes that took over our feeds, eclipsing fashion content for the time being.

Standout moment from in between the shows:

I usually like to plan my beauty appointments like a haircut, facial, and nails before fashion week starts but was too busy to do so beforehand. By the week's end, my Gel-X manicure was embarrassingly overgrown. After my last show, I made my way to Majesty's Pleasure, a new Toronto export that just landed in Flatiron last month. I'm not exaggerating when I say I've never had a better salon experience. The space is immaculately decorated, including a full bar and menu of drinks and snacks that you can order right to your table while getting a service done. I cozied up into one of the pink velvet booths, ordered a beetroot latte, charged my phone, and listened to our NYFW recap on the WWW podcast through my AirPods while my lovely nail tech Roxana made my nails look new again—10/10 recommend booking an appointment here. I know I'll be back ASAP for more.

What you wore:

Fashion week is as good a reason as any to shop, and shop I certainly did. I bought two pieces off my wish list that I wore on this day: a sheer gray-and-black Tory Burch skirt from the S/S 23 runway and the green satin Prada mules that were the talk of the town this spring.

Day 5

WHO: Eliza Huber, senior fashion editor

Favorite runway look:

"I fell in love with look six from Toteme's first NYFW show mostly because of the way it was styled with tights. Remember, this is a spring/summer collection, which would usually rule out hosiery, but this look and a few others proved that there are ways to style tights in the warmer months—with short sleeves, knee-length skirts, heeled sandals, and light, airy colors."

The trend you're already seeing everywhere:

"One trend I spotted at COS that I think will get implemented a ton going into fall and winter—COS showed a fall/winter see-now-buy-now collection—is matching your shoes to your socks, specifically with vibrant color options. It's a fun way to lighten up an outfit in a time of year when your outfit really is just a long coat and whatever shoes you have on."

The buzziest pop-culture moment:

"It's not so much a pop culture moment, but every single cool-girl IG feed today was loaded up with pictures from the Colleen Allen presentation. She's a Chicago native like me and is one of the buzziest and most refreshing new designers in New York who made her NYFW debut last season. I'm personally a huge fan of her work—she used to design for men's The Row—as is every stylist and editor I know."

The best thing you ate and/or drank this day:

"Sadly, I was running around all day and barely had a second to grab anything until I got home and made dinner, which was very boring (in a sort of wonderful way after eating far too many fries and croissants over the last five or so days). I did grab a biscotti and peppermint tea from Casa Cipriani, where I got the most luxurious Hydrafacial early in the morning before my first show. I snacked on it while my redness subsided—it was honestly perfect."

Standout moment from in between the shows:

"Probably the funniest thing was at Rachel Comey. Every seat had a glass Voss water bottle under it, and the floors were cement, so people kept knocking them over and the sound was jarring, to say the least. The same thing happened a few seasons ago at Tibi, and this season, the brand smartly switched to plastic."

What you wore:

"It's been absolutely gorgeous in NYC this week, which almost never happens for NYFW. I took advantage by wearing my brand-new Tory Burch S/S 24 draped minidress that I scored during the brand's recent summer sale. I wore it kind of like a miniskirt, pairing it with a technical black Proenza Schouler jacket from the same season, Prada kitten heels from F/W 23, and a black Tory Burch Lee Radziwill Cat-Eye bag. I also accessorized with Linda Farrow sunglasses, a new pair of Jenny Bird earrings, and a Brilliant Earth cuff bracelet."

Day 4

WHO: Kristen Nichols, associate director, special projects

Favorite runway look of the day:

"Tory Burch look 14 featured a beautiful animal print style coat that fell below the knee, designed with a sharp collar, rounded shoulders, and an open hem on the sleeves. Affixed with a silver brooch and paired with cutout pumps, it's a clear nod to the rise of nostalgic elegance that has fashion (andBest Knockoff Luxury Clothing editors) in a choke hold. The entire look feels equal parts editorial and wearable."

The trend you're already predicting:

"The white leather sneakers at TWP and the peep-toe cutout pumps at Tory Burch were the buzz of the shows and are sure to inspire spring shoe trends, as well as editor shopping orders including my own."

The buzziest pop-culture moment:

"The celeb-packed front row at the Tory Burch show included Michelle Williams, Elizabeth Olsen, Mindy Kaling, Joey King, Bruna Marquezine, and Jodie Turner-Smith to name a few, and Alexa Chung walked the runway."

The best thing you ate and/or drank:

"If I pass by Sant Ambroeus, I always stop in for a fan palmier."

Standout moment from in between the shows:

"I visited Chanel to see the fall 2024 couture collection up close in person, and it was even more jaw-dropping than you would imagine."

What you wore:

"I wore a white T-shirt and lace slip skirt underneath a tailored Prada coat with Chanel slingback flats, Celine sunglasses, Cartier tank watch, and a woven leather Bottega Veneta intrecciato clutch. I always love finding fresh ways to style wardrobe staples and a lace slip skirt was just the piece to add new dimension to items I've had in my closet for many seasons."

Day 3

WHO: Lauren Eggertsen, editorial director

Your favorite runway look of the day:

"I loved so many looks from the Sandy Liang show, but the short trench styled with a green hot pant and a matching bandana on the model's head was just perfect. This season she kept to minimal yet striking styling and silhouettes while still maintaining her classic quirk with bows, frills, and more. I also spotted a few looks perfect for 2025 brides."

The buzziest pop-culture moment:

"Tommy Hilfiger showed on an old Staten Island ferry, where guests were greeted with champagne and boxes of popcorn. The entire collection was an ode to Tommy's love of the nautical lifestyle filled with the classic Americana color palette, tons of stripes and plaid, and all the accessories to match. There was also a surprise guest performance by Wu-Tang Clan members, which closed the show. This spectacle was exactly what we needed. Sometimes after a busy week of back-to-back shows, a little pizzazz feels necessary and, boy, did Tommy deliver."

The best thing you ate and/or drank:

"I ate dinner at Balthazar with a good friend, and it was the perfect way to end a hectic fashion weekend. This restaurant is a classic New York establishment and with good reason—the food is good and consistent, and the vibes are always right. We had martinis, oysters, and duck. The next morning, we realized Anna Wintour was dining there as well!"

Standout moment from in between the shows:

"Two of our editors, Anna and Kristen, were unintentionally wearing coordinating looks, and it really moved me. They are so chic! We had a mini photo shoot because this moment needed to be documented."

What you wore:

"I wore a vintage orange Prada top I bought from The RealReal with navy trousers and a big suede bag. I styled a printed scarf on my bag to tie in my orange top. It was such a nice day in the city, so I opted for my Prada kitten-heel thong sandals."

Day 2

WHO: Jasmine Fox-Suliaman, editor

Your favorite runway look of the day:

"My rule of thumb regarding runway collections is that they must have at least one look that makes me audibly gasp when I spot it to make my favorites list for the season—Kim Shui's S/S 25 runway show met that criterion. The moment a model sauntered down the stairs in the show's fourth look with a scarf billowing behind her attached to an embroidered leather corset top and styled with a matching miniskirt, I was spiraling (in a good way). I've always loved Shui's ability to speak to her heritage while also playing up women's innate sex appeal—which was embodied perfectly through this look. As explained in the show notes, each look was meant to 'tell a story of strength forged through adversity by drawing inspiration from the ancient Japanese art form called Kintsugi—which is all about repairing broken pottery with gold resin.' With this particular S/S 25 look, we see the subtle influences of that ancient art form through the yellow floral-embroidered leather; however, it's still given that signature Shui twist through sultry silhouttes and contemporary styling."

The trend you're already predicting:

"Although it was only the second day of the NYFW, two trends stood out to me as something to watch. The first was 'naked' dressing. In the past few seasons, we've seen some variation of sheer clothing surfacing on the runway, so it has not necessarily felt cutting-edge—until now. There were a few S/S 25 runway shows that explored 'the new naked' by using laser-cutting techniques as a way to play with textile opacity. For example, at Simkhai's show, sheer tulle textiles were embellished with finely cut floral appliqués made from leather. While at Tibi, cutouts were embroidered on top of sheer materials, inadvertently creating a more muted floral print. By taking risks, designers made this trend feel risqué again."

"But it wasn't the only trend that stood out, as I noticed that many collections featured one specific shade: butter yellow. From Nanushka to Sergio Hudson to Prabal Gurung, shades of yellow could be spotted everywhere, further solidifying this color to invest in for the long haul!"

The buzziest pop-culture moment:

"Every season, I've found that at least one presentation manages to pop up as a memorable moment among the madness—for me, that's very much the case with Tanner Fletcher. While I've been a fan of the Brooklyn-based genderless brand since it first began in 2020, I particularly loved its presentation because it felt incredibly creative compared to the cookie-cutter format we can see from other brands. The brand's S/S 25 collection was entitled The Artist's Dilemma. It was all about exploring the challenges that artists face, which was embodied through a series of vignettes where models acted out different scenarios—e.g., a woman, probably a writer, was wearing a pretty puff-sleeve toile print dress while she was sharpening her pencils. Similarly, another model was hunched over a typewriter wearing the brand's signature tailored pieces, typing away only to throw each musing into the trash every time. The interactive element of the presentation not only brought the collection's theme to life but further cemented my belief that the creatives behind this brand (Tanner Richie and Fletcher Kasell) are coming into their own."

Standout moment from in between the shows:

"I wouldn't say there was one standout moment so much as one of the best things about fashion week is running into people—whether that looks like finding fellow WWW editors in the wild, meeting influencers I've followed forever, seeing beloved street style photographers in person, or simply meeting new people in the industry! The best thing about fashion week is that it gives back-to-school energy, so it's always fun to see everyone again."

The best thing you ate and/or drank:

"When you're running around the city, it can take a lot of work to carve out time to sit down and eat properly. However, after Nanushka's anniversary show in SoHo, I meandered to Gilligan's with fellow editors and a few models to grab a drink between shows. Sometimes, you must stop between the madness of shows for 30 minutes to slip into a little tropical oasis for a quick margarita and guacamole. Luckily, this hidden gem provided the perfect short getaway."

What you wore:

"Usually, when planning outfits for fashion week, I like to create a PowerPoint presentation, but I did not have the time this season. However, I knew I had many items already in my closet that I could style creatively, so I started by picking out the items I knew I wanted to wear—specifically, my Maison Margiela Tabi Ballet flats, Bottega Veneta Horseshoe Belt, and my Ferragamo Prisma Bag. Since these accessories are bold, I knew I wanted to keep the color palette of my outfit minimal but pick other pieces that would allow them to pop a bit more. I landed on styling these accessories with a matching set from Tamar Keburia, which I discovered from the Swedish retailer Seezona, dedicated to curating female-founded brands. What I loved about this matching plissé set was that it was super comfortable to schlep around the city and had this sculpture-like silhouette that stood out from the typical all-black fashion week ensemble. In order to also ensure it wasn't a single-shade ensemble, I added gold and silver jewelry to spice it up a bit, including earrings from Christina Caruso and rings and bangles from Jenny Bird. Overall, I love that this look allowed me to be comfortable throughout the day and spotlight some cool accessories already in my closet."

WHO: Kat Collings, editor in chief

Your favorite runway look of the day:

"Alaïa showed this evening and definitely left a mark on day one of NYFW. It was the first show the Guggenheim has ever hosted (surprising, non?), and remarkably the collection had zero zippers or buttons, demonstrating Pieter Mulier's exceptional craft. This sculptural look was one of many that caught my eye."

The trend you're already predicting:

"Funnel-neck jackets are something the WWW editors have been talking about for fall, and since we're always early on trends, I wasn't surprised to see it continue into the spring collections, like here at Brandon Maxwell."

The buzziest pop-culture moment:

"Hands down the best pop culture moment was Rihanna looking like an absolute goddess apparition at Alaïa in a netted, pearl-bedecked gown. She is not a fashion week fixture but came through for the French maison. "

Standout moment from in between the shows:

"One of the best parts of fashion week is catching up with colleagues like Sara Holzman, Marie Claire's fashion director, who I ran into with Lauren Eggertsen,Best Knockoff Luxury Clothing 's editorial director."

The best thing you ate and/or drank:

"We had a team happy hour at Jean's, and by the dessert course, we played a game of 'what's in your bag' lip gloss edition alongside cobbler and ice cream."

What you wore:

"Fashion week dressing while pregnant has been an interesting challenge! Cut to me trying on a million pairs of pants at Zara this morning trying to figure out my size. As for the top, I wanted to show off my bump without going full bare stomach, and this knotted top from Diotima fit the bill perfectly."
