The NYFW Starter Pack: 5 On-Trend Items Every Fashion Person Needs to Own

And just like that, NYFW has come to an end. There's no denying that my Instagram feed is overflowing with pictures from the week's festivities. After sifting through hundreds of posts, I spotted some common sartorial themes among the many stylish show attendees. So with help from Net-a-Porter's chic designer selection, I've created a NYFW starter pack to pinpoint every item the fashion crowd has unanimously deemed a must-have wardrobe piece. And I think you'll be very pleased with the results. Keep scrolling to shop the five on-trend items every fashion person needs to own right now.
Ballet Flats
Ballet flats took the fashion scene by storm at NYFW, and the chic comfortability they offer ensures that they'll be cherished for the foreseeable future. Trust me—there's a pair out there for everyone whether it's a classic round-toe shape, sleek pointed flat, or Mary Jane (as pictured above).
Sheer Separates
Layering is the name of the game when it comes to successfully styling the sheer trend. Adding a triangle bra, cami, or full slip underneath sheer fabric is an excellent way to get a little more coverage but still tap into this bold trend.
Belted Garments
If there's one thing I learned after scrolling through NYFW posts, it's that a belt can completely transform the silhouette of any dress, top, or bottom. And fashion people are leaning into garments with built-in belts. (Talk about a two-for-one.) These pieces have a way of accentuating your waist and make for a very polished look.
Chic Clutches
A clutch is the one handbag style my wardrobe has yet to adopt. After seeing how fashion show attendees used them to subtly elevate their outfits, it's safe to say that I'm ready to start shopping. Luckily, Net-a-Porter has an abundance of chic styles to choose from.
Wide-Leg Pants
The wider the leg the better this season. This trending wardrobe item has proven to be a popular pant style that never fails to have an effortlessly cool aesthetic. Fashion people play with a mix of shapes and styles from high-rise cargos to plissé-crepe fabrics.
