This Flattering Shirt Style Is No Longer Dated
Circa 2012, you couldn't walk into a store without being faced with a plethora of peplum tops at every turn. And truth be told, I didn't hate it. They eliminated the need to tuck in my shirt but were just as flattering as a tucked-in shirt, if not more so. But as most trends do that quickly blow up, peplum-style tops faded from relevance, making way for bell sleeves and other statement-making shirt styles. But if you've been missing those tops that flare at the waist while the trend has been on hiatus, I come bearing good news.
Peplum tops are set for a comeback this season after appearing on the runways of Balenciaga, Rosie Assoulin, and more. And as you know, in 2018, if Balenciaga says something is cool, it's officially cool. This time around, many of the peplum tops feature other interesting details, like smocking, statement sleeves, or modern asymmetrical necklines. Below, shop the peplum tops that have me looking forward to the trend all over again.
