This summer, I wanted to squeeze in one last getaway before the air starts to cool and fall is in full swing. I was feeling a bit of that back-to-school-time nostalgia and wanted to stretch out that summer feeling as long as I could. So I packed my bags and headed to Portland to meet up with my mom, who lives a few hours away in a wine town in Washington. This was my first time spending a few days in Portland, and I decided to stay at the beautiful Heathman Hotel. Located in the heart of Downtown, this property is a landmark in itself, with a gorgeous grand library where my mom and I had coffee every morning and a delicious restaurant on the property called The Tavern, where I ended up having my favorite meal of the trip.

We went winery hopping and took a tour of a rose garden that looked like it was actually out of a Disney princess movie. It's safe to say I fell in love with Portland. While getting ready for this getaway, I was determined to only pack items that I actually was going to wear and that I actually needed. I’m notorious for overpacking, and as someone who travels as much as I do, I needed to up my packing game. Not to toot my own horn, but this trip, I think I nailed it. I brought 30 items with me to Portland that I would deem travel essentials and that were not only super useful but also very easy to pack.

Keep scrolling to take a look at the travel items I swear by.
