People Comment on My Outfit Every Time I Wear This Trend

Let it be known that I wear a decent amount of out-of-the-box clothing. I'm always down to try out weirder fashion trends than most, so at this point, my friends and family have gotten used to all my sartorial experiments. Showing up in a lime-green shirt or layering a dress over bike shorts hardly warrants a second glance from them, but there's still one trend I've noticed people going out of their way to comment on every single time I wear it—a red dress.

Cliché as it sounds, the color red is known for being the most attention-grabbing. I've held onto this information for a while now but had never truly taken it to heart until recently when I acquired a few red dresses. I was taken aback by the sheer volume of comments I received when wearing one of these dresses. Friends, people on the street, and even strangers who follow me on Instagram felt the need to go out of their way to give me a compliment on my outfit.

"The color red flatters everyone," according to Kate Smith, a color expert and president of Sensational Color. She confirmed what I already had a hunch about, adding that "lots of research has been done that shows wearing red makes [others] see you as more attractive." While I've never been one to dress for others, I did notice that wearing one of these red dresses inadvertently gave me a boost of confidence that lasted well after I had changed into something else.
