If You're Adding a Cashmere Knit to Your Wardrobe in 2026, This Is the One I'd Recommend

Late last year, I really focused on bringing a really considered approach to my shopping. Every new piece of clothing that joins my wardrobe goes through rigorous tests to ensure that it will be a long-standing addition worthy of taking up space.

A few months ago, my search began to upgrade my knitwear, and immediately I knew I wanted to invest a little more in a beautiful cashmere knit. The search, I’ll admit, wasn’t a long one. As an editor, I spend every day looking at new-in items so I had already narrowed down a vast selection to a handful. Made of 95% recycled cashmere and 5% cashmere, the soft-to-touch qualities of the cardigan are undeniable. As someone who is sensitive to textures, I’ve struggled with knitwear that demands a long-sleeved top underneath to avoid a scratchy or irritating feel, but the supple fabric often features in my outfits with just a tank top for support. Compared to high street knits, this is definitely a higher price point, but when you consider the composition and the timeless design, it's an investment that will pay off in the long run, and I can personally vouch for that.

The first style to join my wardrobe was the bold red, a shade that continues to be a favourite amongst fashion people for its universal appeal and ability to instantly revitalise any outfit. Now, this is a knit I rely upon almost every week, styled with tailored trousers, layered with a simple tee and jeans, and tied around my neck for a pop of colour against my black winter coats.

The next shade I fell for was the cocoa, perfectly suited for days when my aesthetic is at its most minimalist, and where textures and quality are the most profound part of my outfit. Quickly I realised that this mole-brown shade brings a considerable premium feel even when paired with my most affordable high-street finds. For both, I chose the size Medium for a slightly looser fit.
