Daring, Chic, and Anything But Practical—These 6 Sheer-Top Outfits Will Turn Heads
During my recent trip to Paris, I had the pleasure of visiting the Musée Yves Saint Laurent, an incredible collection of haute couture that celebrates the legacy of one of fashion's most influential designers. This visit was particularly memorable due to a captivating exhibit dedicated entirely to the theme of "transparency." The exhibit showcased an array of creations that were considered groundbreaking at the time, highlighting the daring use of sheer fabrics, intricate lacework, and translucent materials. Ever since then, I haven't stopped finding excuses to put on something sheer and make it look elegant—especially sheer tops.
The sheer-top trend has reemerged, and I'm not the only one who can't get enough of it. There's just something about finding a way to make a tantalizing glimpse of skin feel elevated and sometimes even modest. Forget practicality. I want all things sheer. Below, I rounded up six looks that are daring, chic, and anything but practical. You're welcome.
If I had to conjure up my dream sheer outfit, it would be there. The harsh allure that comes with wearing a sheer tank top is dulled down by the light and airy cotton poplin skirt. It's the perfect juxtaposition of being both daring and innocent.
With this story at the top of my mind, I threw on a sheer top for a night out and can't stop thinking about this look. Showing skin is always a good idea, and I got so many compliments.
Who says you need to wear a dramatic dress for a special event? I love the idea of a lace camisole and knee-length skirt. It feels different, unique, and like the definition of cool.
When in doubt, a matching set is always the solution. Having a matching set like this on hand is perfect for when you want to wear the items as separates or together as one cohesive look.
When I think about a Saturday in NYC, a look like this comes to mind. A simple miniskirt looks even better with a sheer mock-neck T-shirt. It's the perfect way to make basic styling feel just a bit different.
European summer would truly benefit from having an outfit like this grace its beaches. Wearing long-sleeves and pants during the summer sounds outrageously uncomfortable, but when the top is sheer and the pants are linen, it's a breeze.
Sierra Mayhew was always destined to work in fashion, but she didn't know it at first. Growing up with no choice but to wear a rotation of school uniforms and activewear, her love for fashion really blossomed when she moved away for college and was able to finally define her very own personal style. Shortly thereafter, she interned at Elle magazine and instantly knew that editorial was for her. After graduating from the University of Notre Dame, she worked for ShopBazaar, contributing regularly to Bazaar.com, and finally made her way toBest Knockoff Luxury Clothing , where she is an associate editor. When she’s not working, you can catch her always trying to catch a flight, trying Wholesale Replica Bag fitness craze in New York City, or exploring luxury vintage boutiques.
