When My Friends Want to Look Chic, I Tell Them to Try These 7 Trends at Shopbop
As a fashion editor, I often get asked style and shopping recommendations from my friends. One of the top questions I get on the regular is which current trends will actually have some longevity (as opposed to fads). On that note, when someone in my crew recently asked this exact question, I listed off a few of the most wearable spring trends reigning supreme at this very moment. You know, items like It denim cuts and modern tailoring.
Interestingly enough, while all of the versatile trends in question are readily available at pretty much all of our go-to stores, I realized that the selection for each is quite plentiful at Shopbop specifically. Honestly, this makes perfect sense given that the mega-retailer (which just launched its eclectic trend-driven campaign, Spring Starts Now) stocks a massive array of trend-forward basics. To showcase what I mean, I’m highlighting seven clothing trends I’m currently proposing my friends try when they want to look classic and chic—complete with visual and Shopbop shopping inspiration.
Straight-Leg Jeans
While flared and wide-leg jeans are definitely having their moment this season, if one of my friends hasn't tried the cool straight cuts out there right now, I definitely recommend them.
Leather Separates
The leather and faux-leather trend is still holding strong with fashion people incorporating cool trousers, shorts, and jackets into their day-to-day. This is a must-try trend for sure.
Cardigans
It's still all about the cardigan as an easy way to bring a current spin to a silhouette. Whether it's a chunkier style or a shirt-like fit, the 2020 cardigan can basically do no wrong.
Trench Coats
One of the chicest ways to mix in that element of sophistication? Toss on a reimagined trench coat to turn heads.
Reworked Blazers
Nope, the tailoring vibe isn't going away anytime soon. Whenever anyone asks me for shopping advice, I almost always suggest a modern blazer in a slouchier or cropped cut to look chic.
Layerable Turtlenecks
Okay, turtlenecks may not be a new "trend," per se, but the style set continues to embrace the lightweight silhouettes to bring extra dimension to a layered look. Here for it.
Joggers
Yep, joggers are resurging as a certified must-have in any fashion person's wardrobe. Whether dressed up with tailored pieces or down with other casual items, sweatpants are where it's at.
