My 58-Year-Old Aunt Is Still My Style Icon—30 Perfect Things She's Buying Now
My aunt has been my style icon since before I can remember. She is hands down the woman who gave me my shopping obsession, but I would have it no other way. While my aunt (her name is Keri Sukut, by the way), might not fall into my same exact age bracket or have the same exact style as me, I admire her closet and her taste immensely, and today, I am beyond excited to share a little bit of that with all of you. I asked (forced) my aunt to send me a list of all the items she has recently purchased or is looking to purchase, and I can assure you it is really good.
Below, enjoy scrolling through her current list of shopping must-haves accompanied by all the reasons she loves each. From easy summer dresses to boots she's eyeing for fall, the 30 items here are absolutely perfect, and yes, I am biased.
"I love this blazer. I would wear it with jeans and my white Birkenstocks."
"I live in my Birkenstocks come summer, and it's about time I invest in a new pair. The white feels a tad more fashion-forward to me."
"This is a great dress for summer weddings. It's a bold print that would look great with strappy little heels."
"The combination of the bright color and the bold print will make sure you don't go unnoticed when you wear this."
"I love a dress I can throw on and go. This dress is so easy while looking really cute."
"This top bares just enough. It would be cute with the Zara flared pants."
"This shoe is the perfect height for comfort and stability. Plus, the print adds some fun to any outfit."
"A graphic tee is so versatile. I grew up with The Stones, so I couldn't not get this one. I would wear this with the red-and-white gingham pants or with some jeans."
"This is a rainbow of colors. It's another fun '70s vibe. To be honest, I probably wore something like this in junior high."
"These sandals are on-trend with the puffy straps and the platform and make for an affordable pair of everyday summer sandals."
"I am kind of obsessed with Veronica Beard right now. Her pieces always have some really interesting element to them."
"This heel is a little higher than what I usually wear, but the color here was too good to pass up."
"These are my favorite jeans right now. They are slightly distressed (which, IMO, is age-appropriate) and are not as cropped as shown on the model. To me, they are the perfect length to show off a cute shoe and have a mid-rise waist."
"Ugh! So pretty. The fabric, the details, the scalloped hem—obsessed with everything about this."
"I am not really a pink girl, but I like the shacket silhouette."
"I have this blouse in black and am in love with it. It is super lightweight, and the sleeve detail is everything. I wear it out with the jeans above, but it's long enough to tuck in as well."
"I love the eyelet cutouts. It is super lightweight while still staying appropriately covered."
"I can't stop staring at the embroidery detail on this skirt. While it looks fancy, I can already imagine myself styling it a million ways."
"I am currently eyeing these for fall. The sleek, monochromatic, narrow block heel is so pretty."
"A mix of colored enamel and metal will give a bright pop to any simple summer outfit."
"I have recently had to downsize my bags. I am so used to carrying everyone's crap in my bag, so I appreciate a small bag now that hangs delicately across my shoulder."
"This dress has a cool '70s vibe. It's an easy silhouette I would wear with a white T-shirt underneath (because I don't typically bare my entire arm)."
"I am loving the sheen on the material and the striking print detail. You can easily dress this top up with a black skirt or wear it more casually styled out over jeans."
"This has such an easy silhouette to it, and the subtle flare sleeve makes a great statement."
