3 Chic Winter Outfits That Give You the Style You Want and the Function You Need
Sponsor Content Created With SOREL
Winter dressing can be a serious drag, at least for those of us with actual weather to contend with. For the months ahead when it’s wet and dreary and we need major incentive to crawl out from underneath our cozy comforters, we’ll require a winter wardrobe that helps us conquer the cold while still looking chic.
The looks that’ll be convincing us we should brave the not-so-enticing outdoors? We’re doing top-to-bottom knits (yes, really) and low-key separates in ’70s-inspired caramel brown, and we’re taking a serious swing at the moto-chic vibe every model seems to have on lock. Ahead, see the infinitely cool layers and slippery sidewalk ready footwear that’ll be keeping us seriously on trend all season long.
Get inspired by three looks complete with our favorite SOREL boots—guaranteed to give you the style you want and the function you need. (We mean it.)
Not that our schedules are ever particularly low-key, but during the holiday season, we’ll no doubt be double- or even triple-booked. Rushing from morning to afternoon to evening obligations on a daily basis calls for a comfortable, cozy look that’s practical yet elevated—which is why we’ll be wearing this chunky knit-on-knit outfit with chic boots all season long.
An oversize turtleneck paired with a textured ankle-grazing skirt is as appropriate for brunch as it is for that dinner party you don’t quite have time to get changed for. The key to pulling off this pairing? Finding pieces in the right lengths: The sweater should hit just below your hips, and the skirt should be short enough to show off the on-trend buckle detail of your mid-calf boots.
PS: We love that this look saves us on days when the weather is as unexpected as our plans (hello, 3 p.m. downpours)—these SOREL boots are actually waterproof. Hallelujah.
It’s easy to be stylish when you’re getting dressed up, but to be honest, 90% of the time, we’re wearing jeans—they’re a busy-girl favorite for a reason. And for winter, you can’t go wrong pairing them with leather ankle booties. This combo can be topped off with almost anything, but for easy weekend style, we’re loving cozy ribbed sweaters and warm-brown belted jackets with a touch of ’70s-inspired flair. Opt for slim boyfriend jeans that are cropped just a bit north of your ankles to really show off the boots. We don’t hate that the hidden mini wedge gives us a bit of height—and don’t even get us started on the exaggerated tread-sole detail. Utility-chic to the max.
We’re firm believers that you can never go wrong with an all-black ensemble. This moto-inspired look is just the right amount of edgy, and it makes us feel super confident strutting down city streets pretending to be off-duty models. Winter weather means we have a few extra layers to consider when creating a dark head-to-toe look. We tend to start from the ground up, styling our tough-girl SOREL booties with elevated skinnies tucked in (to give them maximum exposure).
When it’s super cold out, we’ll be adding a black (and possibly glittery) slouchy sock to create a seamless look that screams “normcore cool.” For a more polished ensemble (that still has a touch of that don’t-mess-with-me vibe), we love a slick blazer layered under a boxy leather jacket. If anyone suggests going for drinks after a day running around the city holiday shopping, we’ll be ready to go.
Whether a storm is in the forecast or you just want stylish shoes you can wear all day long (without killing your feet), SOREL has you covered south of the ankles. Shop all the brand’s on-trend, winter-ready boot offerings at Nordstrom.
