I don't know about you, but I'm desperate to wear something new. It doesn't mean I have to buy anything but it does require putting down the puffer coat and chunky boots, and stepping into something that hasn't seen the light of day for a while. In my mind it's spring, but in reality, the wardrobe switchover (yes, that's a biannual immersive experience in my house) won't be for a month or so yet.
In preparation, however, the rest of the fashion world is lightyears ahead of me. Already there are spring outfits aplenty shooting out of my IG feed, and I'm saving posts like crazy. But if you're not quite ready for an all-out pink head-to-toe look (very 2021) or up to shedding your cosy layers quite yet, then I have a few very simple combinations up my sleeve for you. These easy outfit pairings below are comfortable, grown-up and very reliable. Keep scrolling to shop out the looks that provide plenty of spring outfit inspiration for 2021 and beyond.
1. THE STRETCHY SKIRT SUIT
Style Notes: We've lived in cosy co-ords over the winter, so it's no be surprise the trend is continuing into spring with skirt-and-top pairings. If you're lucky, you'll find a matching cardigan too.
Style Notes: The overall effect is sophisticated but you can still totally dress down and nice skirt and jumper with sneaks.
2. NEUTRAL-COLOURED BAGGY JUMPER + TROUSERS
Style Notes: Like a posh alternative to your tracksuit, a baggy pair of tailored trousers and an oversized jumper always looks good in these neutral colours.
Style Notes: A jumbo cable-knit jumper and loose-fitting jeans work a treat too.
3. CUTE TOP + HIGH-WAISTED JEANS
Style Notes: An embroidered tank top and fancy blouse is about the sweetest thing you could ever pair with your jeans.
Style Notes: Kooky knits are cropping up all over my IG feed, and because they're a bold item they only need denim to look really good.
4. MINIDRESS + KNEE BOOTS
Style Notes: Bored of tights? Then you may feel inclined to ditch 'em and pop on some tall boots with a short dress instead—minis are back, after all.
Style Notes: So the reality is you're going to need a coat when outside, but this kind of long-short ratio looks '90s and that's not a bad thing.
