I'm a Self-Proclaimed Lazy Makeup Wearer, But These 6 Beauty Looks Changed Me
Sponsor Content Created With Macy's
Summer is great for spending time outside, getting some color, and of course, testing out makeup looks you've never tried. Popsicle lips? Pastel eye shadows washed all over your lids? Name a better season to give these looks a go.
I love that this summer is all about confident, main-character energy even though I'm a self-proclaimed "lazy makeup wearer." I'm a creature of habit, and most days, the thought of wearing a bold pink lip and cat-eye liner out of the house completely terrifies me. But comfort zones are meant to be broken, and fellow beauty aficionados Erin Jahns, Whitney Madueke, and Rahel Brhane are proving just that with their impressive makeup skills and even more impressive makeup stashes from Macy's. Here, they're sharing six very exciting makeup looks for summer, from the viral hits dominating their feeds to the forever favorites that'll have you starring in summer's leading role in no time.
"Glowy skin that's a little sun-kissed with lots of shimmer—especially in a light-catching part of the face—is the epitome of summer. To create the look, I started by buffing the CC cream all over my face for some bouncy luminosity. I tapped on some waterproof concealer where I had some pigmentation and shadows around my eyes. To warm my skin up and give it a nice flush of color, I used the blush/bronzer duo and concentrated on the areas where I naturally get some color from the sun like the bridge and tip of my nose, forehead, and cheeks. I used a brown gel liner to add a soft wing and some definition to my eyes (I always opt for brown instead of black in the summertime), a shimmery long-wear cream shadow stick, and mascara for falsie-esque length. I used a brow pencil to clean up my arches a little bit and then ended with my popsicle lips, patting and dabbing for natural-looking juiciness."
"Bold red lips are a fun way to make a statement and allow you to keep your eyes as minimalistic or dramatic as you like. Any look I create starts with a hydrated, flawless base from primer to skin tint to concealer. Once I set my entire face, I moved on to my brows and then my eye shadow. I used two shimmery shadows, a liner, some mascara, and just enough blush and highlighter to glow. Then I finished with a perfect red lip and set it all with a setting spray. Macy's has all of my favorite brands and products and made it really easy to create this summer look."
"An easy way to open up the eyes is by strategically placing white dots on the eyelid. I saw the trend on TikTok and had to try it out for myself. Since this look is all about the eyes, I kept my skin looking fresh and natural. I added black winged eyeliner first and then added four white dots around the eye. It's trendy but fun."
"When I want to spice up my normal makeup look during the summertime, I gravitate toward bold colors like hot pink on my lips. I like to keep my skin glowy and bronzed, but I still want it to look like my skin. After creating my base, I went in with a contour and highlighter to sculpt and lightly bronze my face—I concentrated my application underneath my jawline, on the sides and bridge of my nose, and underneath and around my cheekbones. I also used the darkest hue as an eye shadow in my crease to create a cat-eye-shaped shadow where I'd be applying my liner. I used liquid liner to line my upper eyelid and then created a cat-eye, added lots of mascara, and then filled in my brows. Last but not least I applied hot-pink lipstick. I always use a lip pencil to trace my lips with the hue (almost like a lip liner) whenever I'm doing a bright, bold color. I finished everything off with a setting spray to ensure the look wouldn't migrate."
"I love adding fun colors to my makeup to go with my bright summer dresses, and Macy's makes it easy for me to do so since it's truly a one-stop shop for all your makeup needs. I'm also obsessed with graphic liners, so it's fun to test different versions out. Since the focus is on the eyes, I like to keep the rest of my face natural. I added two pastel eye shadows on my lid and one contrast color on the waterline. This time I used soft pink, purple, and burnt orange. To open the eye up more, I added a black winged eyeliner."
"Matching your lip color to your eyes creates an effortless look with minimal effort. Again, I started with a hydrated, flawless base and then moved on to my brows and my eye-shadow look. For my lips, I started with the brown lipstick, layered on a shimmery gloss, and set it all in with a setting spray."
