Teen Vogue Is Shutting Down Its Print Edition—Here's Why
It's the end of an era: As Business of Fashion reports, Teen Vogue will no longer exist as a print magazine. Condé Nast is shuttering the print edition of the magazine as part of an "overall reorganization" at the publisher.
"A Condé Nast spokesperson declined to comment on the reports, although sources at the company indicated the publisher will continue to invest in Teen Vogue's digital platform, which accounts for the majority of the media brand's revenue," BoF reports, indicating that revenues from the print edition did not fare well compared with those of the digital arm of the company.
Although print magazine sales are declining across the board, Teen Vogue has seen major growth online—in fact, the numbers are seriously impressive. "As of October, Teen Vogue's average monthly unique visitors for the year were 8.27 million, according to ComScore, up from 1.4 million when [Digital Editorial Director Phillip] Picardi took over the site in April 2015." In other words, we look forward to seeing more amazing content from Teen Vogue's website.
Next up, find out why Christopher Bailey is stepping down from Burberry.
Erin got her start as aBest Knockoff Luxury Clothing intern over 13 years ago—back when the site only published a single story per day. (Who What Wear has since increased that number twentyfold.) She graduated magna cum laude from USC, which is how she ended up moving to Los Angeles from her hometown of San Diego. In college, she also interned at Refinery29, where she was promoted to editorial assistant and then assistant editor. After nearly three years at R29, she came back to WWW in 2016, where she currently holds the title of Associate Director of Fashion News (as well as the unofficial title of resident royal expert—in case you haven't noticed her numerous Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton stories). She spends her days trying to incorporate her idols, Anna Wintour and Roger Federer, into as many stories as possible. Outside of work, she loves tennis, classic rock, traveling, and smothering her dog with affection.
