New Yorkers Swear By These Simple 2-Piece Outfit Combinations
Skinny jeans, blazers, cool sneakers, all-black outfits, vintage handbags—there are certain fashion trends New Yorkers do exceptionally well. And though I may be biased (I'm from here after all), I would be remiss not to mention shorts on that list as well.
New Yorkers have a pretty small window of time during the year to take advantage of all the shorts outfits they can. Think about it: Not only does the weather need to be just right, but for so many of us who spend our weekdays at work, the occasion needs to be appropriate to show off a little—more like a lot—of leg too. You better believe that when we finally slip into a pair, we make the very most of our two-piece outfits with short-and-top pairings that are creative, cool, and, luckily, not too tricky to replicate.
Below we outlined our favorite ways New Yorkers are wearing shorts right now, so you can follow along and do the same.
This is what we call business (very) casual.
We told you New Yorkers love all-black outfits. This one doesn't disappoint.
Balance your casual cutoffs with some fluttery sleeves.
A shorts-and long statement coat pairing is a forever favorite of ours.
Who wears short shorts? Not her. She went for a Bermuda length with an off-the-shoulder crop top.
With the touch of a wide-brim hat and a studded bag, this look is all about the accessories.
Try an off-duty look in a sweat shorts and sweatshirt combination.
Or go for silky PJ shorts with your favorite AC-ready summer sweater.
Choosing a matching set is the simplest way to put a look together.
Stick to simple denim shorts and a statement-strap tank.
While Bella Hadid may famously like bike shorts, don't sleep on how NYC ladies style them.
Wear it monochrome in a matching top and bottom.
We love a little waist tie because who really wants to add a heavy leather belt around their body during the summer?
Suit up!
Longer shorts, cropped tee, and done.
