I'm Bicoastal, and These 2022 Trends Will Rule My Closet
Fashion influencer Melissa Meyers has been living in L.A. for many years now. In fact, we often tap her for her tips on how she creates her effortless California-cool aesthetic. Well, she’s now spending more time back in NYC, so we’ve also been intrigued by what she’s going to be wearing in her life between the coasts.
"I moved to L.A. in 2012 from NYC and never looked back… until recently! I have a newfound love for my hometown and decided to spend lots of time there since my daughter moved to Tribeca in early September. When I shop for clothing now, I look for pieces that can be worn on both coasts,” said Meyers. On that note, Meyers shared the key staples she’s already wearing or can’t wait to wear more of in 2022.
Keep scrolling for styling and shopping inspiration if you too are looking to add fresh, easy, and versatile pieces to your own wardrobe.
1. Faux-Leather Pieces
On Meyers: Zara jacket
"From jackets to blazers and pants, all of my faux pieces will be worn on repeat in black, camel, and beige. You can easily dress faux leather up or down depending on your shoes and accessories."
2. Oversize Blazers and Coats
On Meyers: LBLC the Label coat
"Oversize blazers and jackets are a Y2K trend I love and will continue wearing throughout the year! They are also very versatile and can be worn with jeans, pants and dresses, and skirts."
3. Classic Mini Bags
On Meyers: Prada bag
"I can't get enough of these ladylike bags. From basic to bright colors, these are great investment pieces because they never go out of style. I wear them from day to night and am happy that they fit all my essentials."
4. Knee-High Boots
On Meyers:Best Knockoff Luxury Clothing boots; Neu Nomads dress
"I bought these boots fromBest Knockoff Luxury Clothing early this fall and loved them so much that I bought another pair in black suede. I will be wearing them well into 2022 with miniskirts for spring and plan to purchase some chunkier ones too!"
5. Chunky Jewelry
On Meyers: Alexis Bittar jewelry
"I recently dusted off my jewelry from the '90s and found some awesome pieces that look so modern and chic. These days, I seem to be wearing chunkier necklaces, bracelets, and large cocktail rings! I will always be a fan of dainty jewelry and layering too, so I still like to mix those in with some more substantial pieces."
6. Tights
On Meyers: Wolford tights; Clergerie boots; Current Air dress
"Tights are also big this year (my faves are from Wolford), and I Iove wearing them with these vintage Clergerie platform knee-high boots paired with a minidress, another big trend for 2022."
