The 6 Transitional Denim Outfits I'm Copying From Celebrities

It's official: Spring is coming (cue collective sounds of rejoicing!). That means longer days and warmer temperatures are on the horizon. But what baffles me every year is that awkward period between winter and spring when it's not quite cold enough for all of your winter layers but also not quite warm enough for spring dresses and sandals. Not to mention the dramatic fluctuations of temps throughout the day—50s in the morning, 70 in the afternoon, 40s at night—it can make getting dressed beyond confusing.

That's why I decided to look to some of the best-dressed people on the planet (who also have a team of stylists behind their every move) for inspiration on what to wear during the awkward winter-to-spring transition. Celebs like Hailey Bieber and Priyanka Chopra have mastered the art of layering transitional pieces, and I plan on riding their coattails this year. Below are the six best winter-to-spring denim outfits I'll be copying from celebs (and highly suggest you do as well).

On Hailey Bieber: Gucci sunglasses; Natasha Zinko jeans; Nike sneakers; Jennifer Fisher earrings

Hailey has the right idea with this casual yet cool look. Her leather trench coat will keep her warm during the colder times of day, but when the afternoon sun peeks out her sweater-and-jeans combo will keep feeling totally comfortable. Oh, and the baseball hat and sneakers are just a nice styling touch. 

On Selena Gomez: Stuart Weitzman boots; Jennifer Fisher earrings

Now, this is one of the easiest looks to copy. Just grab your favorite short coat and throw it on over your sweater, add your wide-leg jeans and ankle boots and you're done. It's the perfect balance of casual yet put together. 

Gigi Hadid is putting all of those wardrobe staples in her closet to good use. She paired a printed blazer, chunky turtleneck, ripped jeans, and knee-high boots to create the perfect transitional outfit that we can all re-create using the version of these pieces we already own.

On Priyanka Chopra: Kendra Scott earrings

Priyanka Chopra's outfit is the kind of polished daytime look I aspire to wear this season. Her colorful sweater and light-wash jeans suddenly look so chic with the simple addition of nude pumps. This is a styling trick I now have etched in my brain. 

On Kaia Gerber: Loewe coat

Kaia Gerber is one of those celebs who's full of outfit ideas that are relatively easy to re-create. Her laidback style always feels attainable (granted my shearling coat is not Loewe), and this look is no different. Take your favorite shearling coat and just add a breezy blouse, straight-leg jeans, and ankle boots.

This might be my favorite Katie Holmes look of all time. That fringe jacket is just so good. Here's another look you can probably re-create using pieces hanging in your closet. Take a suede shirt or jacket (or shacket, if you will) and throw it on over your favorite jeans and T-shirt. A leather shacket would also create the same vibe here, which given the trend's recent popularity you may already own.
